  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It depends on which title you are talking about. For instance, for Rurouni Kenshin the manga was my favorite (partly because the anime destroyed the story after Kyoto).

On the other hand, you have mangas that are just better suited for TV. Trigun springs to mind, since I like how the characters are drawn in the anime more than the manga. I still havn't read all the manga yet, so I'm not sure about the story, but so far I like the anime better there.

Like I said, it all depends.

I vastly prefer manga.

Part of this is cost and availability -- in Japan, manga is very cheap while anime is ridiculously expensive (some anime DVD series cost more than 10 times what they cost in the US).

Also, my oral comprehension of Japanese is not as good as my reading ability, so I prefer manga to understand more of the story.

Finally, 99% of anime are based on manga, and I find that in general the manga is better or more complete than the anime.

All of my favorite anime are ones that significantly changed the manga (into something better, IMO).

Really? up to $200? That is alot of money for one DVD! Especially when they only cost about 40¢ to make.

Personally I prefer manga too for the reasons mentioned above. If I lived in Japan and was fluent enough in the language I'd stop watching almost all animes (with perhaps a few exceptions). It's so cheap and there's so much to choose from.

I have nearly no experience of manga, I have read approx 2 and a third mangas, and am trying to do one...anime, I have watched for years and years, but I dont know, I suppose they're both as good as each other, just in there own way, its like saying which is better, reading a really amazing book, or watching a really amazing film (well, it is just saying that but saying it like this makes it sound simpler) you cant answer it, when you want to do either, there is no favourite.

I guess I prefer anime because I love visual and sound effects! :)

BUT, I'm not really a collector to begin with... so I prefer whatever my friends have to lend me! hahahaha!
