Make Sense?
Isaiah 55:8-9... "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD . "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."
There are times in every christians life when God gives you an answer to prayer or leads you in a direction that makes no sense to you. The question then becomes are you going to trust the Lord and wait on Him or are you going to try to move ahead and make sense of things on your own? It's especially hard for me to trust in the Lord and wait -- to simply wait for the Lord to move or make a way, and then follow. The enemy would like you to think that nothing is happening. It's very tempting to make your own way, to act on your own. I've found comfort in the following.
1. The Lord wants our trust & dependence on Him, not ourselves. There are times when the Lord may delay a prayer answer to teach His children to trust and wait on His supply. (Exodus 16 Manna)
2. Sometimes the Lord keeps us waiting to show His power and His sovereignty, that we may know that He has a right to give or to take away. (2 Corinthians 12:9 power made perfect in weakness)
3. The Lord's plans are best -- He knows the whole picture. (Jeremiah 29:11)
4. Waiting on the Lord may be used to cause a person to appreciate and be very thankful of the answer once it does come.
5. Remember when things seem to make no sense -- God's love also makes no sense.
Romans 5:8... But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Psalm 136:1... Give thanks to the LORD , for he is good. His love endures forever.
Proverbs 3:5-6... Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.
Psalm 27:13-14... I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD ; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD .
___________
Thank You Lord for Your great love for each of us. Next time Your answers to us seem to make no sense, remind us of Your great love for us each -- this also makes no sense. Help us each continue to seek You, to trust You, and to not lean on our own understanding. Empower each of us to trust You and wait on Your perfect timing for Your answers. Thank You that as we do this You will direct our pathes. In the name of Jesus Christ.
