  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I first started this topic in the UK and Europe section and it got a good reply so im doing it here also

What do you people of the christian forum world think of the mainstream christian bands.

Personaly i love Creed and P.O.D.

You could also count U2.they have come out and said they are christian.the "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb" album is very christian orientated eg.Yah Way,All Because Of You, and even Vertigo.Vertigo is about when you first become a christian eg."Your love is teaching me how to kneel"

What are other peoples fav christian band?

(ps when i say christian i mean born again christian)

Creed's not a christian band, they've said so.

U2 has NEVER claimed to be a christian band. Both of those do have christians IN the band, but that's a whole other thing.

By and large, I think the 'Christian' bands that have had cross-over success.....suck.

Jars of Clay is pretty good. I don't know if Sixpence None The Richer counts, but I like them too. I haven't heard a whole lot of Switchfoot, but what I have heard is pretty decent.

And MxPx will always hold a special place in my heart, even though I probably haven't listened to them in close to two years and don't particularly have to the desire to listen to them at all nowadays.

U2 have 3 christians in their band.I would call them a christian band because the majority of their music is christian orientated. The new album is the most christian orientated album they have released.During the 90's they fell away from their walk from God and the music quality also fell away(in my opinion anyway). The last two albums were more chriatian and so the music quality went up

Right now my favorite Christian group is Spoken. Tourniquet is high on the list too.

As far as pop music, I like Stacie Orrico though I don't know how much mainstream success she's really had. I like ZOEgirl too, but they're taking this whole Radio Disney thing a little too far for me. I have a hard time buying a CD when the music is being marketed toward the Mary Kate and Ashley crowd.

Underoath and they used to be pretty lay low until their recent album release "They're Only Chasing Safety" and they have become HUGEEE. Hopefully they will stay to their christian roots and not stray away from their gift given by God like other previous christian bands.

Well, I think it's a good thing if Christian bands can acheive wider exposure of their music to the rest of the world...as long as their goals remain insync with God and His desires upon their lives.

Though, I would argue that many 'christian' bands that appear in the secular charts don't seem to be revealing enough of the Christian ethos. If they're not going to represent God and the Christian community properly I would rather that they weren't seen as a voice for us at all, let alone role-models for Christian youth worldwide *shrug*

Yeah, I don't like it when bands don't reach their "Christian" quota either. *rolls eyes*
