The question reminds me of an ad for MAD TV that was on the radio just before the show first came aired. SNL reruns had been on tv for a while and didn't impress me but many people talked about "back when SNL was funny" because they liked older seasons but not current ones. The Mad TV ad asked "do you remember when SNL was funny? Neither do we." That got me interested in the show and I loved it. But I haven't been watching it in a while because around the fifth season (may be even earlier) it started reminding me of the ad in that when I watched I would think about "back when MAD TV was funny." I think the first two or three seasons of MAD TV were great but not seasons after that. SNL has been on the air for around 30 years now so this is even more true of that show. Shows of the early 80's stunk but shows with Chris Farley and Adam Sandler were much better. It all depends on which seasons you're talking about. I'm going to assume you're talking about currently in which case SNL is good (it's been better before but it's been far, far worse before) and MAD is now lame.

I never really got into MAD TV, though I do think some of their skits are funny. I was raised on SNL, good seasons and bad, and still love to watch it.

well I have never cared for MAD, but the current cast of SNL stinks.

SNL has aways gone throuh phases of being hilarious and phases of being downright dull. During 98-02/03 SNL rocked. Lately I will not even watch it.

Oh, and Jimmy Fallon is the most over rated comedian in existence.

:amen: I completely agree with that! But I do catch it now and then but not nearly as a big avid fan as before.

maybe if you don't know Mad magazine, Mad TV is ok, but I grew up reading Mad Magazine and the TV show is pretty disappointing.

SNL was great years ago when I used to watch TV, but every so often I'll turn it on or catch an old episode on cable, from what I see, they're still pretty good. I just don't go out of my way to catch either of them.

MAD is funnier, mainly because they know their lines and have better sketches. I hate how everyone on SNL just reads from the cue cards...it's called acting...put some effort forth. MAD's characters are generally funnier, as well. Stewart, Lorraine, and that 8th grade girl...forget who she is...and the one that puts half of herself to sleep. I laugh so hard during MAD, but hardly ever chuckle from SNL.

MAD and SNL-separate of each other only by networks, united by demoralizing this country.
Thats a really interesting point. I assume you mean when they poke fun at people, especially the president? Our pastor said he used to watch SNL but has quit some years back when the humor turned to sarcastic slamfests of celebs and politicians.
