Macross Franchise

Just wondering if anyone here watched any of the various Macross series (or the American "Robotech"). I thought it to be a pretty good series (subbed) myself. In fact, it's my favorite Anime :D

Unfortunately, since the Internet is my only means of seeing it, I haven't been able to see it all.

It's hard choosing a favorite, but Macross Zero gripped me pretty good, with the Original Saga a close second.

Wow, someone other than me made a Robotech/Macross thread? That's awesome.

I'm Commander Breetai. :D

You just like the pretty animation/computer graphics.:p Nothing beats Macross. Macross Plus is amazingly addicting too, I say. Sharron...

How in the heck did a 15-year old get into Macross? Anyway, larger video stores will have the entire Macross series as well as all three Robotech sagas on DVD. You can also pushase them through www.Robotech.com.

I loved the Macross and Southern Cross sagas of Robotech (I watched them on Cartoon Network when they ran them six and a half years ago), but I've yet to see the Macross saga as it was originally. I do have several of the games though. I have the DVD of Macross Plus, but I haven't watched it all the way through, just bits and pieces I spliced out for a music video I was making (I need to get the OVA discs so I can watch it in English). I did see part of Macross 2: The Movie when Plex showed it, though.

I also watched two episodes of Macross Zero at a club meeting at one of the local colleges (unfortunately the majority of the club are purists who refuse to show anything with English audio; whatever happened to understanding the dialogue without reading the text at the bottom of the screen? If it has an English audio track, I prefer to watch it that way, no matter how much the acting may suck). Personally, it's an interesting plotline from what I saw, but I really don't like the new trend of anime relying on CG animation, and I don't care all that much for Gonzo Animation's programs (although I do want to see Hellsing and Full Metal Panic one of these days).

[rant]Anime series always excelled because of how well-done the cel animation was, but when you introduce the CG stuff it becomes a lot less intricate and really fake-looking  .[/rant]

Macross Zero is the one where they're test pilots right? Final sequences blew me away, got such an adrenaline rush from the scene breaking through Earth's defenses that it took me three minutes to stop shaking. Tch, gotta love something like that. ;)

I think that you are talking about Macross Plus. But it was cool, wasn't it?

Huh??? I don't remeber that happening... Macross Zero is the newest series, (with the island and the tribal people... are we talking about the same series here?) and they are still to sub the last and final episode of it (number 5).

But it is incredibly well done... I love it! It's the only robotech I've seen though.
