  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A friend sent me a picture of the Machholtz comet passing by the Pleiades with this verse from Revelations. The word for pale in Greek, #5515, means green, pale yellow in the Strongs. Interesting. The Pleiades is mentioned in scripture and has the seven stars in it. One star is said to have dropped from the sky on the day of the dead when the flood destroyed the world's population. It is just less visible to the naked eye.

Rev. 16:8 And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Lu 21:25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;

Am 5:8 Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name:

This is the eschatology forum? I must say I am surprised that Christians often react negatively to the thought that the Lord will return. I find this sad, as the Lord tells us that we have nothing to fear of Him and that death has no sting whatsoever for those who are in Him....
Luke 21:25 by itself needs no apologies, and Jesus and Paul agreed we are in the end times and would be able to discern them when we saw these things happening. Well, there are at least two camps, I suppose, for everything... My personal opinion would be  at His appearing.

2Ti 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Not negatively to the thought of the Lord returning, but to all of those who assume that every little thing is just another sign of the end. It's annoying and ignorant of history. There have been massive earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes and other like disasters for millennia. Probably the only reason that anyone's been noticing an 'increase' is because of our now greater awareness of the entire world and our ability to better track the things going on, instead of simply a localized awareness.

What if Christ doesn't come back for another 6,000 years or more. There's a lot of Christians expecting His return to be within the next few years. What will happen to their faith if Christ doesn't 'rapture' them away?

It's good to know that Christ will eventually return, but to assume that He will come back extremely soon is utter foolishness. Shame on all of those preachers who are giving Christians a probable false hope because of their personal bias!

I get the feeling that when people talk about the Lord's return and the prophecies concerning them, they are going to be scorned and shamed for studying and watching. There is no way to force others to see or be warned, as Jeremiah demonstrated. The call of his day was for him to shut up, and he was finally thrown into a well for not prophecying the smooth things requested. Even discussing the interesting things the Bible speaks of for reason irritates those who are comfortable and don't want to see any change or the words Maranatha. Soon, even talking about it will probably not be tolerated. The spirit of this age seems to be gathering just such strength, IMHO. There is much detail given about His return in scripture for good reason. I enjoy learning and sharing it with others but tire of debating whether I should be ashamed for doing so. I'd rather let the Lord do the shaming at the proper time. I don't have a need to do that nor want it. I listen, watch, and search the scriptures. Anyone found doing the will of God has no need to be fearful, as I already said. :sigh:
Jesus didn't say, "Don't watch, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming." He said, "watch".

Hi

I think the key here is perspective. Yes Jesus will return and these things will happen.

However we do not know when.................we need to be building our future in the Kingdom now. understanding these things is VERY important.

I am going to start a Poll on a question let's see what we get for an answer.

I'm watching too, raphe!

How can we straighten up and lift up our heads to see if our redemption draws near if we don't watch?

(Luk 21:25) "There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves,

(Luk 21:26) men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

(Luk 21:27) Then they will see THE SON OF MAN COMING IN A CLOUD with power and great glory.

(Luk 21:28) But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."

(Luk 21:29) Then He told them a parable: "Behold the fig tree and all the trees;

(Luk 21:30) as soon as they put forth leaves, you see it and know for yourselves that summer is now near.

(Luk 21:31) So you also, when you see these things happening, recognize that the kingdom of God is near."

The Pleiades and Orion have a part in "end time" events.
I've heard some (amatuer?) astronomers have detected 'something" heading towards earth from Orion, and some claim it's the New Jerusalem. I don't know. When it's time it's time!

"Canst thou bind the sweet influences of the Pleiades, or loose the bands of Orion?" ~ Job 38

Edit: So thats the fuzzy snowball thingy we saw above the Pleiads when we went out to watch stars a couple weeks ago! I was wondering if it was a comet because I hadn't seen it there before. Cool!

When this comet went through or by the Pleiades, being observed from earth, there was also a startling event that happened and was photgraphed. The tail of the comet was changed by the currents of space.
My friend also pointed out that the star that it most pointed to, is Merope, which is in the position that Smyrna would be in geographically (remember that the churches are in a similar geographic layout as the seven stars) Smyrna is today called Izmir and the location of NATO's headquarters for SW Europe. It is also the ancient site of Troy and has been destroyed at least twice by large earthquakes. Exactly what significance this would have other than just being a sign in the sky, I don't know.

My friend is an astronomy buff and has her own telescope. she understands the positionings etc. while I'm ignorant of such things. She did send this link and another I can't seem to locate again that was strictly astronomy:

Since the Pleiades are just a distant background object (approx. 440 light years or so distant) they have no relation to the comet. Comet tails frequently exhibit short time scale variations from solar wind variations etc.

What does the position of the star Merope have to do with an Earth geographical location. This is meaningless and just makes no sense.

By the way it is NATO SE Europe not SW Europe.

Thanks for the correction....Of course, I figured that the relationship would be only significant to the one observing from earth than to the actual position of the comet in space. The three wise men who followed a star didn't go to the star to find Jesus, but understood the meaning enough to find Him. Has this kind of knowledge been lost or corrupted through history? I don't know. Do we even have wise men today. When I look at the world and myself, I wonder.

I already had said that I didn't know what it exactly meant other than the significance given it by scripture.

Exactly what significance this would have other than just being a sign in the sky, I don't know.

Visionary,
Any website on this, that we can check out?

I'm pretty sure I saw it in a book and since I've read like 20 books in the past month I have no idea which one, and it's probably been returned to the library. I heard it somewhere last year as well

Although the Pleiades are 400+ light years from earth (as is Orion) the stars were given for signs according to Genesis 1:14 and they do have significance in scripture. As long as people don't start doing astrology, because that's not the kind of signs God meant.
