LWML Portland Convention

I am wondering if any of the LCMS members are planning on going to the LWML convention in Portland in June. I plan on going. If anyone else is, we can plan to meet up sometime.

well, the WELS LWMS convention will be in St. Louis in 2010! woo!

St. Louis would be much easier to get to than Portland. *sighs* Ah, well. I doubt I'll be going to the Portland convention. cross-country travel is much too expensive for me to do.

I can't remember where it will be in '11 an '13, but it will be in Des Moines Iowa in 2015.

you ladies only do every other year?? weirdos us WELS ladies do a convention every year -- every other is in WI/MN then the other years are farther out...

The other years, each district holds a convention.

that's like our youth ones -- district in some years, international in others...but the LWMS ones are every year...

That is literally down the road from us (I-5 southbound for three hours). I am trying to convince Hope that she should consider going. I bet she'd have a blast. I can stay home and watch Jeremiah. Besides, other than hang out at Ham Radio Outlet, what on earth would I have to do in Portland? Maybe somebody could give Hope an IM about it?

Well, I have gone to two of the National Conventions. I usually go with a couple of other women and we have a blast. We usually select one of the business sessions to skip out on and go shopping. I am thinking of going a day or two early this time as I have never been to that area of the country. So, I want to do a little sight seeing while there. I will have to see how things work out with the person I will probably be going with. I do also want to head down to San Francisco to see a couple of cousins I have not seen in a very long time.

The fun and fellowship alone is worth it. Then factor in the speakers and the mission work of the LWML and you have a wonderful three days. Oh, there is also service opportunities too. Think of it, a very large group of Christian women gathering together to spread the Gospel and all having a wonderful time.

I have to get my registration in too. I am looking at spending about a week in San Francisco visiting cousins I have not seen in ages before the convention.

We don't have LWML in our church. Just ladies aid. They dropped it years ago.
