  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

As the TE/YEC cold war smolders, I wonder what the point is. This fellowship forum doesn't have a lot of traffic.

The origins thread is a war of rhetoric with frequent name calling. Is anyone getting anything out of the latter? I like the opporunity to learn and share information. Is any of the hotly contested stuff being read with any interest at all?

I think there is a lot of "traffic" here. As of this writing there was already 191 views of your post, but with no response. Your topic and post are a little hard to understand as to your point.

I, for one, get a lot out of the Origins forum, and haven't had the experience that you're describing. I would hope that we all want to learn from each other and not just come here to argue. I surely find more people on CF that want to talk about origins issues than I get from my local contacts. This site has been a real blessing, and that's why I'm a supporter.

I, for one, try to avoid name calling as much as possible. I do think there is a benefit to these forums, but that it is often hidden. The number of folks who are truly around here to discuss and learn is much smaller than the number who come to post their position with no intent of growing and changing.

On the other hand, there are a bunch of folks that come by to see what's going on. For these folks, I want to be sure that there are answers available as much as I can. I'm swamped busy at work, so I can't do what I'd like.
