  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

This is the difference between the loves, one heavenly one earthly. One is God the other is a responsive love, the love of man. When Jesus asked Peter the three times do you love me, Jesus used the word coined as God and Peter always responded with that one which is of the earth. John spoke of this Love as eternal Life that abides in us.

Luke 6:32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil

the first part is it saying whats the point to love people who love us , i think i read this wrong, someone please explain?

In the first of this teaching you learn

27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloke forbid not to take thy coat also.

30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.

Luke 6:27-31 (KJV)
as you see Jesus is telling us about Loving others besides those that we are in agreement with or who we think fit our mold. Unconditional love.

Be merciful and to not have any strings attached for this is pure love just as he loves us.

Because if you only love those who love you what good does that love do ?
For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them. Luke 6:32 (KJV)

35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.

For did not God give hiis only begotten son for us all, that we might be saved? so this is pure love.

36Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.Luke 6:35-36 (KJV)

Hope this helps

Maybe even as easy as a more contemporary translation...

But I say to you who listen: Love your enemies, do what is good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If anyone hits you on the cheek, offer the other also. And if anyone takes away your coat, don’t hold back your shirt either. Give to everyone who asks you, and from one who takes your things, don’t ask for them back. Just as you want others to do for you, do the same for them. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. If you do what is good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do what is good, and lend, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is gracious to the ungrateful and evil. Be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful. [Luke 6:27-36 HCSB]

it confuses me when it says sinners do that too, what credit is that to you is what confuses me aswell. i understaned if you give something to someone don't want something in return, this to be exact confuses me ' If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. If you do what is good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you?' may you please elaborate on it?

The point here is that there's nothing special about loving people who love you. It's easy to love people who love you. It's so easy, in fact, that even horrible people do it. Jesus is driving home the command for us to love everyone, even the people who hurt us, hate us, and curse us because that's the kind of love God has for us. I could elaborate more if you need.

I love you!
