  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Lucien is a very backwards type of person. Therefore, it is necessary to write his bio....backwards. In order to understand Lucien even a little bit, one must first understand his history, which is where we start.

History: Born to farmers Erick and Yvonne Sloan, Lucien and his twin brother Tristan were not raised in the lap of luxury. But it wasn't something that bothered Lucien. He and his brother found many interesting things to do without money...though most of which involved a rivalry that had been between the brothers from the moment they were born. Their parents never told them who was older, though they did know they were born three hours apart. Consequently, the brothers were constantly attempting to outdo one another in everything they did, to see who was better. Their mother was quite mentally ill. She would often go into fits of rage or depression, most often right after having been laughing and joking with her sons, something simply snapping.

Things went on like this for nine years, until one day she discovered her husband had had an affair. After a little while of fighting, Yvonne stormed off, and everyone thought that was the end of it. But it wasn't. Not ten minutes later, she came into the room and stabbed Erick through the neck right in front of the boys. Lucien and Tristan ran out of the house as fast as they could, for fear their mother would turn her wrath onto them. They ran for help, but it was too late. Not only was Erick dead...but Yvonne had slit her wrists as well, perhaps in remorse, tear stains on her still-warm cheeks. No one would take in the two small boys,so they lived on the streets for seven months. Finally, a kind, wealthier middle-class couple named Gregg and Mary Lynn Walker discovered the boys and took them in, adopting them as their own since they couldn't have children. And apparently this wasn't the first time they had done so. Three other children also called the Walker house home. There were two girls, one five and the other twelve, and one boy, seven.

At sixteen, Lucien wanted to go to college and start his own business someday. But he didn't have the money to pay for his tuition, and with his meager job as an errand boy outside the house barely bringing in any money, Lucien was convinced he would never be able to go. That was, until his adoptive father decided to bestow upon Tristan a substantial amount of money. He said it was because he knew Lucien would go places, with a mind and ambition like his. But Tristan was having difficulty, and Mr. Walker wanted to be able to give Tristan the best possible head-start. Lucien was furious, believing some of that money should have been his. Tristan decided to get very drunk two days later, and Lucien saw his chance. He hired a cardshark to enter into the pub that Tristan was at and win all of Tristans' money from him. And he was successful.

Lucien, now with money in hand, set out to pursue his career, starting with education. His brother was enraged when he found out what Lucien had done, but there was nothing he could do about it, joining the army and barely making a living. A year later, however, Lucien received a letter from Tristan, his twin wanting to make amends, asking him to meet where Tristan's army was currently camped. Deciding to give it a try, Lucien traveled there...only to run into a hoard of the Kry. His brother had laid for him a trap, and it had worked. Lucien was poisoned by the Kry. He survived, but his brother wasn't done punishing him yet. He turned Lucien in to the authorities so they could ship him off to the island with all the other survivors. And there Lucien has been living for the past twelve years.

Personality: Highly unpredictable due to his being a Vysage. When under low amounts of mental stress due to his condition, he is quite jovial. Intelligent, witty, and humorous, though always a little bit jumpy. When under large amounts of stress, he tends to snap at people and get sarcastic and mean. He's loyal and generally wants to be helpful, though he does tend to make things worse sometimes. He can also be very jealous and is quite resentful towards his brother, harboring deep animosity, blaming Tristan for his condition and exile.

Appearance: Lucien is not particularly handsome, though he isn't bad to look at either. And living on an island in squalor for twelve years has taken its toll on Lucien. He's had to learn to fight, being around so many Vysages with bouts of rage from their condition, so that he wouldn't be killed when one of them snapped. He's therefore toned and athletic, though nowhere near big and buff. His hair is light blonde on top with dark blonde and even brown underneath, a mop of scraggly wavy locks, with curls near the nape of his neck. He hasn't shaved the entire time he's been there, so he does have hair covering his face and partially down his neck, though he keeps it trimmed and doesn't let it grow out. His eyes are a deep blue, turning up at the ends as if they hold a secret, accented by the blue veins that stand out against his skin...sign of a Vysage. His face is more oval-shaped, with a slightly-upturned nose and thin lips. The clothes he wears are mostly made of leather from the animal hide on the island, nothing fancy or intricate, and his weapon of choice is a crudely-made flail made of a strong branch, woven strips of bark into a rope, and then a sharp, jagged rock on the end that he keeps on a belt about his waist. He's still learning to use this, however, so he has fashioned a hatchet as well that he uses for protection and as a tool for his day-to-day living.
