  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world. And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever” (1 John 2:15-17 ESV).

So, when I woke up early this morning I had a secular song in my head titled, “How Deep is Your Love?” After that another secular song was playing in my mind titled, “Both Sides Now.”

The message that I am getting from these two songs combined together is that this is speaking of love spoken, but love broken, not committed, not faithful, not pure. It is speaking of a partner who is a wanderer, an adulterer (someone not faithful to the relationship). It is someone who is looking at “love” from two different sides, which could mean adultery, but it could also mean a homosexual relationship. This also speaks of someone living in a fantasy world, so this could also be speaking of pornography addiction. And the ultimate conclusion is that this person doesn’t really know love at all.

I am also reading in the book of Jude about those who:

1. Indulge in sexual immorality
2. Pursue unnatural desire
3. Rely on their dreams (fantasies)
4. Defile the flesh and reject authority
5. Blaspheme what they don’t understand
6. Are like unreasoning animals living by their instincts
7. Are haters, murderers, who turn against their loved ones
8. Feast with you without fear (no conscience)
9. Are wild waves of the sea, shameful wanderers

See Jude 1:5-13. And in verse 13 it says, “For whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever.”

So, what’s the message here, overall? Well, first of all, we are not to be those who prefer the things of the world and of the flesh over God, and over his righteousness, holiness, and godliness. We are not to take pleasure in what is worldly and ungodly and immoral, nor in unnatural affections. We are not to long for (crave, passionately desire) what is of the flesh and which is against God and against his word and against his moral character and against his divine will and purpose for our lives.

The love that we are to have for God and for other humans prefers what God prefers, which is what is holy, righteous, godly, upright, honest, morally pure, faithful, and obedient to our Lord and to his commandments (New Covenant). We are to be those who are preferring to live through Christ, embracing God’s will, choosing his choices, and obeying them through his power. We are to be actively doing what the Lord prefers. Thus, we will not be sinning against God and against other humans; not against our spouses.

But sadly, many people professing faith in Jesus Christ are living just like these two songs describe, and just like what is described for us in Jude 1:5-13. They are indulging in sexual immorality, pursuing unnatural desire, pursuing “love” from both sides, i.e. both heterosexual and homosexual relationships. And some of these are in adultery against one’s spouse. They are those who live in a fantasy world who look for sensual pleasure in videos and in relationships outside the marriage, which is hate, not love.

And so many of them are living like this without fear of God, and without conscience, compassion, or concern with regard to who gets hurt in the process. For they deliberately and habitually do what their flesh dictates regardless of what that does to their marriage partner and relationship. For they want what they want no matter what, like unreasoning animals following after their own instincts. And then they lie in order to cover up what they are doing in secret, but God knows what is going on.

But it is whoever does the will of God, who walks in obedience to the Lord, who will abide with God forever. But the gloom of utter darkness is what is being reserved for those who reject God’s authority, and who reject his commandments, and who go their own way, instead, which is the way of fleshly and worldly passions and desires which are contrary to God and to his divine will and purpose for our lives. For if sin is what we practice, and not righteousness and obedience to our Lord, the Scriptures teach that heaven is not what awaits us. We will not inherit eternal life with God.

Broken Cord

An Original Work / August 29, 2018

Your bond is broken with your Lord and Savior
And your testimony is separate from Him.
Your words not matching your actions today.
Repent of your sin and bow down and pray.
Live what you testify in truth always.

Purity’s lacking in your life and witness,
For you profess one thing, but other you do.
Not moral, spiritual. Still of the flesh.
Not living in truth to what you confess.
Lying about it puts you in a mess.

Living a lie is your practice, ‘tis true of you.
Masquerade righteousness – none of it true.
Your heart is not given to your Lord God.
Because of how you live, you are a fraud.
Turn from your sin and give your life to God.
