But Christ wasn't married, and you're telling people to live exactly like Jesus lived. Look, I'm all for emulating many things that Christ did in the same way that I'm all for emulating many things that the Apostles did. My point is two-fold. 1. You need to not use sweeping statements about how we should strive to live exactly like Christ lived on earth. No. Christ was God, and many of the things that Christ did and the way in which He lived is unique to Him and His calling. My calling and purpose in life is very different than Christ's. 2. You need to exercise a lot of caution when attempting to draw out theological positions when basing them upon the way in which a person lived their life, even Christ. Meaning, Christ had a specific purpose in His coming to earth, and just because there are many things that Christ did not do does not therefore follow that we are not to do them. Bottom line. As a husband and a father, if I was sitting in my downstairs and my family was upstairs, and a man broke into my home, do you think the right thing to do would be to tell the man that he doesn't need to worry about me, that I'll just sit here and watch the Braves lose, and that he is welcome to go upstairs and brutally and violently do whatever he wants to my family because hey, Jesus wasn't aggressive! That's horrendous and I hope to God that you are never around my family when they are in need.
