I was wondering if any of you who have had babies before used lotion for pregnancy with cocoa butter supposedly to prevent/reduce stretch marks. I used Palmer's, can find it anywhere. I heard both that it worked and that it didn't work, so I figured it was worth a try. I used it all over my stomach! Then I had my baby and sure enough I have NO stretch marks on my stomach. But I didn't use it on my butt, and I have stretch marks on my butt. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience. Because now I am thinking it works. My doctor looked at my stomach at my 6 week check up and said "no stretch marks, impressive!" and I didn't mention the ones on my backside, hehe. I would rather have them there anyway, even wearing a bikini you couldn't see them.

Sometimes stretch marks are caused by the hormones in your body, which no amount of lotion is going to do anything about.

Keeping your skin lubricated with some sort of lotion (my advice: get a HEALTHY lotion or oil, one without a bunch of petroleum or petroleum byproducts in it--your skin absorbs that into your bloodstream and it's NOT good for you OR baby!) will help, but if your hormones decide to mess with your skin's ability to stretch, no amount of lotion will keep those stretch marks away.

I made it thru my first pregnancy w/out any, and then got a TON of them when I was only 4 months pregnant with my second! See--hormones, because I was hardly even showing at that time!!!

Now, I'm totally tiger striped on my belly, and I could care less. I mean, it's not like I wear bikini's anyways, and if my husband needs a woman who looks like she was air-brushed but STILL wants me to have babies, he's got major problems in the head!! ^_^

No, seriously, he doesn't care and neither do I. It's a badge of honor--if you get 'em, then wear them with pride. Your body brought forth life--that is a beautiful thing. :)

I got some of the Palmers this past weekend at Walgreens. This is my first so I don't know if it works but I figured it is worth a try.

I liked Mother's Friend-made by s.s.s. Company Atlanta GA 30315....most pharmacies can order it. Nothing is proven to prevent stretch marks...but this is what i used and i have none.
I'm just popping in here, but this gave me a chucke. My sixty-five year old grandmother swears by this stuff! She keeps telling me when I get pregnant to get it.:D

I'm using this Mustela Stretch Mark Double Action cream. I've read mixed reviews on whether or not it works, and I got it after I already had stretch marks on my breasts and sides. :( I don't have any on my stomach yet though. I don't know if a lotion can really prevent stretch marks, but I've also heard that the one I'm using can at least help the redness go away, which I'd be pretty happy about at this point. Also it just feels nice to put on lotion every day, and the lotion helps get rid of that itchy feeling that sometime crops up on my belly.
