  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The first few years I was a christian the word of God was so exciting and every page verses and sections were jumping out at me and these "wow" moments and moments of awe were constant, now I'm 6 years old in the Lord and I can't remember having any wow moments for about a year, is this part of the journey?

I guess what is happening is, God is saying it's not all WoW it's now walking in the knowledge you gained in those WoW moments.

The WoW times are still available they don't ever go away, I am now in my 50th. yr. and I still have WoW moments, we never stop learning.

Have you ever run in cross-country or a marathon? The start and finish are the most exciting parts.

The rest of the time, you just need to keep reminding yourself (and being reminded*) why you are there. Though not as exciting, you will begin to find your rhythm as you go.

"Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown." 1 Corinthians 9:24-25

*Another good reason to stay in Church

Sometimes excitement comes from discovering new truths. Learning is fun! But there is a peace we gain by serving Him and teaching others. Start sharing your faith and knowledge. I love encouraging others and praying.

A long time ago I said I would pray for you. I'm still praying for you, Ben!

2 Peter 3
18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

It just shows that you progressed greatly and are chewing the meat instead of arguing about the milk.
If you want to have big "wow" moment then I can give you one which you probably never heared or noticed yourself .

This is very good.

Now I’ve been “there.” Meaning after reading the Bible my first 5 years as a believer cover to cover a few times I thought wow now what. But what I did was like a geological survey of the earth which identified the treasures of God’s Word. But was yet to dig in and unearth those treasures.

I started reading some commentaries and books of godly men through the ages who did the “digging” to unearth the treasures. I did not just want to take their word of what the treasures looked like, but valued the tools they used for digging and used them instead of scraping with my fingers.

This opened quite a lot for me. I went from reading the Scriptures as “what is the text saying to me to what does the text say about God? What does the text say about God’s sovereign plan for us? What does the text say to the actual audience? What can I learn from what is being taught to the audience. And where the audience addressed is Christian how does this apply to me who walks in the Spirit as they did?

This leads to an expository examination of Holy Scriptures and opens the door to explore the riches of the Grace of God and His Love for us. It also leads us to focus on doing His will and as such gives us such great assurance of His works for us.

Bible reading and study should be done from the perspective of laying our heads in the bosom of His Grace so rich.

I find that group Bible studies help me much more than just reading on my own. The input from others makes me see things that otherwise I would not. There are also a lot of great online resources. One of my favorites is The Bible Project.

I did a study on Revelation recently and that gave me plenty of Wow moments. It put me on a spiritual high! And then I did John's letters (thinking that since I had enjoyed his revelation so much I would enjoy his letters) and found them rather meh. Huge amounts of repetition and nothing surprising or insightful. So I think it just depends on the person - some books you will like and others not so much. You just need to keep with it.

Perhaps you haven’t been prioritising communing with the Lord?
Only you can examine your heart and truly know where your allegiance is.
Press on and God bless!

I havent been prioritising time with Lord, at all, but I really struggle with that area, I never struggled against anything like I do against spiritual laziness, giving up my 10 year tobacco addiction was easy in comparison

The problem with excitement is that it is an emotion, and emotions are fickle and fleeting. The important thing is that you know your God and seek him with all your mind and heart. Dry times are inevitable, we all walk through the desert. Paul admonishes us to run the race without giving up. Jesus said that His friends are those who obey Him. This is what we need to do.

I'm glad you posted this. I'm going through a dry moment myself, and I needed my own pep talk.

Perhaps a fellow believer will be able to help you in that specific area. We are called to encourage one another after all. Pray about it. Then do your thing by being faithful to prayer, to the body of Christ and to the Lord ultimately.
God bless!
