• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

This morning I woke up and discovered my 20 year old cat had passed away. It wasn't much of a shock because he had been lethargic and not eating the past few days. And at the age of 20, he lived longer than the average life span of a cat which is 13.

I'm going to miss Mr. Twiddles, he gave me much happiness and joy when he was here. He was a great cat! We do not know for sure where animals go when they pass on, but if he is in a special place in heaven, I know he's young and vibrant again. He was born in the same house I am still living in. RIP 4/29/89 - 11/18/08

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. While I haven't had any pets, I love animals dearly and have grieved the loss of friends' pets. So, yes, it's perfectly fine to grieve the loss of Mr. Twiddles. What kind of cat was he?

Take special care of yourself during this time. Please don't feel bad about grieving the loss of a pet. Pets are so special to us and love us unconditionally.

Be Blessed

My husband and I were just talking about how God created pets to give unconditional love. Pets do not judge. They set a great example for us humans. Twiddles was a Himalayan. Thank you for your condolences!

You're most welcome!

I am SO sorry
I know this hurts immensely.
My sister and I adore cats. I lost my 17 year old cat a couple of years ago and it still hurts, and her 21 year old cat died a couple days ago. It is like losing part of your heart.
Our theory is that our cats are waiting in Heaven for us. God knows how much a part of our hearts they are, surely He knows the happiness and joy our animals can bring us in Heaven.
