losing shoes?

Twice now I've dreamt that I was hindered from doing something I needed to do because I kept losing my shoes. One was a quest, the other was leading a group of people out of a complicated building. Sometimes I would substitute somebody else's shoes that didn't fit properly or I would go back and find an old down-in-the-heel pair of my own, but neither of these solutions were really satisfactory.

Any ideas?

It sounds to me like this is about your witness for Christ. There are many reasons why you could be losing it - sin in your life, fear, disobedience, etc. You can't lead other people if you are not in a right relationship with the Lord yourself. Maybe your QT's with the Lord are lacking in some way. Putting on someone else's shoes could mean you are relying on the words of others or their giftings over God's words and his calling on your life. Remember the story of David & Goliath? He could not wear Saul's armor because it did not fit him - not just physically, but it was not his way; his style. We can't be like someone else or follow men. The down-in-the-heel pair of shoes reminds me of trying to rely on your salvation experience or an old spiritual encounter with God but you don't have anything fresh from the Lord to rely upon. It really does sound like it has to do with your intimate relationship with Jesus. If we are going to be effective ministers in this world of ours, we need to have something fresh from the Lord every day and it needs to be from him, not other people, even as good as what someone else has to say might be.

Well, that is what I'm seeing. I hope and pray you take it to the Lord in prayer, inquiring of HIM as to what he has to say to you through it.

Hi Tsadde. My name is Jonathan and I'm new this forum. Here's what I believe the dream was about. First of all I believe that the Lord's calling you to be a leader. But your right, you cannot lead appropiately with the wrong shoes. So what does the Shoes mean? Remember in Ephesians 6 Paul talks about the armour of God? Well in there he mentions putting on the "Shoes of the preparation of the Gospel" Basically your shoes are a piece of your armour. The shoes represents always being ready with the Word of God in your Spirit. Being equipped with the shoes means that you always have something in your Spirit man from God whether it's a verse your medatating on etc. I believe that the old rugged shoes are spiritual truths that perhaps you have held onto from other pastors, teachers but it was not something fresh and new. It's important to always be ready in season and out of season and even daily to have something in our Spirit fresh from the Lord. Hopefully this was helpful let me know

I always thought shoes were a way of life, like earthly life, job, habits maybe? moses remove your shoes. ect.

shoes are what we use to stop our feet from getting dirty... Remember what Jesus said to Peter in John "If your feet are clean, so is your whole body" therefore, I believe this indicates that you are exposing yourself to sin but are trying to protect yourself in an awkward manner, as is shown by the awkwardly fitting shoes, losing your own shoes means your protection against sin is being weakened some how.

I think this can apply to protection in general too. We wear shoes to protect our feet from stones and unexpected thorns, glass, water. With them on, we don't need to think about what's underneath, so they speed our pace. Facilitate our journey. Certain shoes give additional support like sponginess, traction, and spring.

Even if you took shoes out of the symbolism of the dreams you mentioned, you are trying to accomplish something worthwhile, and are hindered by not having what you need to do it properly. It is frustrating, but you make do.

There were several shoe dreams about two months ago, so it might be worth skimming back through them... some were in malls, and I think all were in public.​

JT912, this has been confirmed through scripture and other sources that it's about part of the armour of God and it has to do with "the preparation"
and "the gospel of peace" not necessarily of salvation or trying to convert somebody. (that's included in the helmet of salvation.)

CFS, I have been spending more time in Bible study and prayer than ever so I don't feel guilty on that account, but it does involve seeking better equipping for moving on and perhaps leadership.

So now I am studying Jesus' peace and how it is different from the peace the world gives and also how the peace of Jesus is to be pursued in the body of Christ. I have been greatly disturbed by the animosity and division I have seen between believers lately. Perhaps I have been allowing the fear and distrust many people have been expressing lately to disturb my own peace and thus I keep losing my "preparation of the gospel of peace."

What a great idea. I like how you distinguished between the gospel of peace and (helmet of) salvation.

I have been greatly disturbed by the animosity and division I have seen between believers lately. Perhaps I have been allowing the fear and distrust many people have been expressing lately to disturb my own peace and thus I keep losing my "preparation of the gospel of peace."

Yes, it's not just you. A lot of people feel put through the wringer when they spend too much time here... but also in churches.

It sounds like your study and implementation will involve leading more people through complicated buildings! Finding their way out of patterns of thinking.
