Anyone here ever permanently lose an internal organ, because it reached a point of total failure and now had to be cut out of the body?

I'm so wiped out and suspect that all of the trauma leading up to needing surgery, then having to undergo the ordeal of surgery, and resultant time period of recovery after surgery has got me physically, mentally, and emotionally drained so badly, I am morose and despondent.

Any encouragement is welcome, as well as shared stories of dealing with the same.

I am actually grieving so much, the loss of my body part(s). It's hellish.

Let me hear from you how you have encountered the same and how to get through this time.

I lost an internal organ to cancer almost six years ago. It wasn't something I was looking forward to but I eventually accepted it. I'm fine now. It takes about a year to fully recover. I think the nursing I had to do to myself for a while -ironically- helped keep my mind off of it.

You can use your experience to learn more about medicine and be able to love others by helping them through what you have gone through. If you use this for loving, this can help you be stronger and more ready to benefit from loving while you go through it.

What a beautiful idea. Thanks so much!

I'm sure there are hurting people everywhere.

This would be a great ministry.

Gods Peace be with you!

"For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin." (Hebrews 4:15)

This shows how Jesus went through the things we go through, but not only taking care of Himself. But Jesus went through it all, so that now Jesus as our Groom can feel for us plus bless us with the grace which had Him do so well.

So, you in Jesus are in this priesthood of using your things to help you understand and feel for others and minister grace to them.

And in other ways with God in His creativity of love you can use your situation for His good.

For example, you grieve about a suffering part of your body. Well, Jesus feels for each of us in His body. Every one of us is precious to Him. So, your grieving for parts of your body can give you some feeling for how Jesus so cares for us.

And, from how each part of your body matters, you can appreciate how each of us can affect any other part of the body of Jesus. Even one hidden toenail matters > if someone came and said one of your toenails is not important and offered to cut it out . . . . we matter to God more than a toenail !

And have you read and fed on what happened to Joseph? Genesis 37-50 > his own brothers sold him into slavery. But because God was with Joseph, he was blessing everyone else more than they were blessing him! So likewise you can bless your medical workers and visitors, with your prayer, your good example, and however you get any needed correction of your attitude so you grow better in pleasing God and loving. Learn in the middle of things, how to become like Jesus and how God has you see things and pray and share with others.

That is so profound of an answer. To think of Jesus mourning losing one of us because we are a part of His body!

I cannot imagine such grief as He feels. He does not want to lose a single one of us. He wants to keep each of us as His body, for we are now His body here on Earth, His hands and feet meant to serve Him.

He grieves for any loss of His body.

There are meditations on contemplating His wounds. Maybe I should be praying about the loss of skin and tissue and blood as well as function of His body and His body parts, and how He sacrificed for us out of love.

The cross is so profound.

Thank you @com7fy8 for this beautiful and deep response.

Thank you for sharing this insight, its been soothing to consider what you shared with all of us.

Today, as I slowly and mindfully took a shower, I agreed with you in my heart and spirit, that these slow and nurturing activities of daily living do indeed take ones mind off of more fearsome things.

May God bless you today for your generosity and kindness.

Congratulations on beating cancer!

I think of this. Make sure you tell your medical people things about what is going on and how you are doing. It is possible this will even help them to learn more.

My father wasted away with prostate cancer. His doctor said he never learned so much about cancer, like he did talking with my father.

Thank you @com7fy8. this reminds of a great and moving cinema production from a few decades ago, but that is still very much true in todays society:

The Doctor, starring William Hurt

In the movie, the doctor suddenly becomes ill, and is shocked to discover what it is like on the other side of the diagnosis.

He learned how to be a better doctor and human being, and started to have more genuine compassion for his patients.

I'm sorry for your loss. I can "feel" your pain coming right through the screen. How are you doing right now?
