the loss of an aussie is felt by me anyway. we tend to cut to the chase in communication style but that can be interpreted as rudeness I guess.

Yeah iv'e noticed that not everyone gets the Aussie sense of humour and our mentality of calling a spade a spade, I find other cultures way to sensitive to deal with.

having said that, I enjoy communicating with other cultures here. There are some very cool americans here who I like more than many aussies. The Poms tend to get our sense of humour but I still sense a patronising tone now and then towards "the convict colony" Australia.
I can be oversensitive too so I try to respect others who are the same.

I find sometimes things go off topic a bit in the forums, you say something innocuous and all of a sudden a debate about another issue erupts. I'm reminded of the Gillard era when people just start attacking each other but not government policies thats what the climate feels like right now.
