Please pardone my blunderings, and ramblings, I've never done this before.

I am looking for some pen-pals* with similar interests, it would be nice for you to be around the same age as myself but not necessarily necessary. (I currently email people with ages ranging from 14 - 27) I'm nearly out of school, I was homed schooled so I got my GED at 16 and am now taking a class at the community collage, Event driven BASIC IST 176, but I'll finish that class this week. I'm planning on taking more classes next year, English and web design at least. I love cats, our family has around 10. I'm studding film, I am very picky about the films I watch and I drive most people nuts with my criticism of most movies. Though my selection of how I get to see them is limited, the only way is for see them is to buy since
1# I'm to young to be able to sign up with a place that rents out movies
2# I can't drive yet because my dad owns an auto body shop and we always drive under a dealer tag and it's illegal for anyone under 18 to drive with one. Therefore I can't go to the theater because it's very rare that someone else wants to see what I want to see. So I'm having a hard time getting the required 40 hours.
3# The theaters in my area don't play much except for the things that appeal to very broad audiences, they've only played about six films this year that I want to see. (Seabiscuit, Mystic River, The Last Samurai, Pirates of the Caribbean, Master And Commander, The Gospel of John)
I'm partial to really any genre of film, they just have to be deep and thought provoking. Though I do tend to collect things about WW2, Band of Brothers, The Pianist, Europa Europa, and Life is Beautiful. I also like to get foreign films, though I haven't seen many. The next film I'll probably watch is Magnolia, it might be a while though, my dad wants me to wait till he can watch it with me.

I love to read, whether it's stories, biographies, or non-fiction. Some books I'm reading now are Searching's of a young mind, C.S. Lewis's Mere Christianity, a book about the origins and cultural significance of vampires, werewolves, and zombies, and some psychology books. When it comes to what I read I'm not to picky about what genre it falls under. Some books I want to read soon are Lord of the Flies, some series that Steven King wrote, (I don't know the name of, something about a tower I think. It looked like an interesting read, chock full of interesting ideas to debate. ) C.S. Lewis's science fiction, and George MacDonald's fantasy.

I love to debate idea's and my friends tell me I'm a deep thinker and an intellectual, and extremely annoying. :) I'm also quite quiet, have taken Karate for a while and will hopefully start again in a couple of weeks. I had to stop because I have mono and now, around a year later, I'm finally getting over it.

Hmm, I don't know what else to say. Ohm, I also play computer/video games too much. Some of my favorite games are Eternal Darkness: Sanities Requiem, Grim Fandango, Syberia, The Myth Series, Dues Ex, Myst 3: Exile, and I'm currently playing Metal Arms: Glitch in the System. It's not very intellectual but it's quite fun, it's got good multiplayer, and it's since of humor is hilarious. My little brother and I will soon be getting a PS2 so I'll be getting a few PS2 games as well. The most promising ones being, Shadow Hearts, Twisted Metal: Black, and a few other RPG's. Though I'm slowly getting out of the gaming scene, for two reasons. 1# I have a tendency to play to much. 2# I generally they don't promote thought, though I love games that make me use my head. Just look at my favorites.

I also could say what kind of music I like. Mainly what I listen to is purely instrumental things, soundtracks mostly. I rarely like anything that targets youth, especially when it comes to secular music. It in my opinion isn't very mature. But then I don't usually do much with music so I don't understand it very well. I have don't usually like the mainstream Christian music either. It strikes me as not very artistic, that somehow the artist think they must make it seem that once you become a Christian all your troubles will go away. (if you know what I mean) I also don't think there are many talented artist in the "Christian" genre, they mostly appear just to copy someone else. (disgusting practice) I want my music to have depth, something I can think about, most CCM music appears very shallow. (that's all in my opinion and you don't have to agree) The last CD's I've bought were Dido: No Angel and the Shadow Hearts soundtrack.

Hmm, what else could I say? I could tell the topics my friends and I are currently debating, Violence in video games and the morality of film. I try to be an open minded person, trying to understand someone else's views and respecting them, even if I don't agree. One of my friends described me this way, He is great to have challenging and deep debates or conversations with on a personal one on one level. He appears generally quiet and introverted but has a great hilarious "matter of fact" sense of humor. Overall he is an honest, trustworthy, devoted friend and many mysteries are to be uncovered " as he is more of a research project" than an " open book" personality.

Oh, I mustn't forget the most important of all, I am a Christian. And being a believer shapes everything I do. Though it's the hardest thing to describe about myself it's the most important.

Please note, this is a biased "review" of myself because I don't know how to put my faults in here. (since I don't necessarily see them myself) According to my friends I'm self-righteous, overly critical, extremely annoying, and in my opinion, lazy and undisciplined. Boy, a whole paragraph!

I hope you've found it easy enough to get through my uncoordinated writings. I hope though you can understand myself enough to decide whether or not you would be interested in becoming pen-palls. So, are you interested?

*Or are they now called e-palls since we use email?

P.S. I live in Rustburg VA

hey argon, ive got some advice for you, not that you should trust me or anything i say becausse you just met me, right?

but anyway, why dont you make friends just with random people? if you only talk to people who are like you then your not brodining your horizions and all that good stuff....

besides, having someone you can physically talk to is alot better then waiting for posts and replies. no offence to anyone else...
