When our mood is not appropriately regulated we may find difficulty maintaining interest or pleasure in activities that we used to enjoy. At these times, too often we cope by becoming less active in an effort to avoid or control stimulation... We are apt to "play it safe" Isolating ourselves from those persons or things that might shake us up...Perhaps even our loved ones... and healthy activities. If this sounds familiar to you, here are some things that you can do that very likely will have a positive impact on your mood!1. Get Back in Touch with the Positives! Each day make a list of three things that you feel really good about or are proud of. .. After seven days... Look back over your list from the week. Do this assignment for several weeks consecutively.
2. Rediscover Small Pleasures! Consciously shift your focus from fretting about the future, what may happen, or what happened before and notice what is going on currently...Look to sharpen your senses rather than your thoughts. .. Make a special effort to smell and taste your food... Notice the colors of your room. Listen to the sounds of your house with the television and radio off... Take a bubble bath or a nice' warm shower. .. Feel the water against your body... etc.
( i like to go stand outside and observe and feel the weather, watch the trees, clouds etc.).
