I need some help trying to find a bible verse. All I know is it has something to do with christians telling other christians (who sin and don't turn away from their sins) that they are not welcomed in the church until they turn away from their sins.

At least that's how I think it goes. Does anyone know offhand where this is mentioned? Thanks.

yea but the idea is to give them several chances to repent. talk with them. bring along a friend and talk with them. visit with a pastor and and them and talk. if that doesnt work try all over again. i've never heard of something going this far because most people will change long before it goes this far. that is the idea of this verse.

I think your name gave this one away. Matthew 18:15-17.

Always remember tho, these are brothers, not strangers. Be ready to receive them and don't ever give up on praying for them. We don't treat them as strangers, but discipline is a must to keep order and peace in the body. We do so in a loving, biblical manner. Love is not always cookies and milk.

Hebrews 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth.

Amen... and your quoting Hebrews 12:6 brought back many memories. Before being saved at the age of 27 years, I had lived a rebellious life. Am not proud of it, and will not recount the shameful things done. Sometimes going over life before becoming a Christian becomes braggadocio. But this I can say with warm recollection... When I failed and reverted in word or deed to some of the previous behaviour, God really thumped me!

For the first three months of my Christian walk the greatest assurance I got of His love for me personally, and of the reality of my relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, was the immediate chastening and yes, the flogging when I did revert to previous habitual language or deed.

Praise the Lord.... as I grew (and grow) in grace and knowledge of the Lord and His Word, my assurance is based upon much less humiliating things; it is based upon HIM.
