  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Canon A530 would be a good choice. :)

It's about 199.99 where I work (Staples), but can be found for less elsewhere. Of course, you'll need to buy memory (expect to spend $25 for a 256MB card) and I also recommend some kind of extended warranty (usually in the $40 range). The warranties available at Best Buy and Staples are pretty good. I'd avoid the warranties from Circuit City, based on my personal experience.

You might be able to find one on ebay that comes with a memory card and a warrany for about $220.

Alternatively, give the Nikon L4 a shot. It's usually about 150 dollars. Add on a memory card, and you're well under the 200 dollar mark. :)

On a $200 or less camera, I probably wouldn't worry too much about extended warranties, unless one was offered for dirt cheap. At that price range, I would accept the standard warranty and figure I'd be looking to replace it a year later with something better in the $200 range.

You should also consider looking at "open box" or clearance cameras. If you're willing to take something someone else has already touched, you can get a lot more camera for your money this way. I would never buy new electronics at Sears or Best Buy (typically overpriced), yet both give really good deals on their open box stuff.
