  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I just heard that my campus is in lockdown right now because of a local robbery or something...
I was at school this morning, but came home about an hour ago. They just announced the lock down 8 minutes ago so it must have just happened.

we've had lockdowns every once in a while in my grade schools, but i've never heard of one at a college... Probably cuz I couldn't imagine a lockdown when we have 55,000 students... Is your school a smaller one?

I just looked up it's estimated enrollment for this semester and it's 10,734 students.
Not too big.. but it's bigger than it has been in the past. It has grown a lot in the last few years.
I think they had whoever was outside go to the library for the lockdown, it's a really big building they built last year. (It's the learning center, some classrooms, and the library on the second floor.)

My other school has around 30,000 students... and there were a few bomb threats on campus so I heard that they had shut down the campus for that. Then opened it up by the time I got to school for my night classes.

I go to a small community college. We weren't locked down but one time they had an added police presence because about 10 miles north at a different technical college there was someone that came on campus with a shotgun. Thankfully no one was hurt except the guy with the gun...he shot himself.

Even though it wasn't at my school it was still unnerving.

What do you mean by lockdown?
If there is a threat, like someone with a gun, they have all the students go into classrooms or a building, and you can't leave until its all clear.
I've never experienced a real lockdown, but we had at least one lockdown drill in highschool.
