• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Nothing puny about me.
Here are some general Asperger's Syndrome symptoms you can read through.

And a quick online test.

Keep in mind, the test is hardly conclusive. Your best bet is to see a psychiatrist for a proper answer.

Hi C-Man. Thank you for your answer.

I took the test too, and I got a 20. I don't trust it though you're right a psychiatrist can diagnose it better than a quiz.

Hello puny humans. Could someone here list ALL of the symptoms f asperger's disorder plizz? Thank yiz.

What is the nature of your inquiry?

By the way, I scored 43. My best friend and mentor, whom I thought would score at least as high, scored 25. My wife and I both think he has AS "worse" than I do. But one of the test's caveats states that 80% of those on the spectrum score 30 or higher. That means that 20% score lower. Another warns that the test is not diagnostic, only indicative.

My mother thought I was a potential candidate for Aspen a few years ago. I'm rather awkward socially and am a self-diagnosed Misophonic, and those are some of the "qualifications."

I can't help but think that there are a lot of people who were falsely diagnosed with Autism or ADHD.

I'm sure there are. It's actually quite hard to diagnose ADHD for some reason.

When I took the aspie test, think its changed from when I took it, I was more NT than AS. There used to be a guy who posted on a aspie message board a lot and was very good explaining how he viewed things. About everything he wrote sounded just like what I'd experienced. So I could relate more to AS than NT people. But it seems as if the above test was pretty accurate as I don't have it any where near as bad some some of our fellow aspie brothers and sisters express.

One of my obsessions has been to study people. Over 40 years I've learned so much about people that I can interact very well with most people now. Even the ladies really enjoy my company these days. Praise God.

Note that Asperger's isn't the only condition in the autism spectrum. The one that I find oddest is PDD-NOS, Pervasive Development Disorder Not Otherwise Specified. As far as I can tell it is someone who has significant problems, but not all of the symptoms that would be needed to classify them as Asperger's or some other classification.

If you think you might have a problem, I'd talk to a psychologist or other professional. Or talk to your doctor at your next checkup. While a typical doctor isn't a specialist in these conditions, they should know enough to decide whether it's worth consulting a specialist. You're old enough that your doctor should insist on talking to you without your parents present for at least part of your checkup, if that's an issue.

What makes you think a lot of people were falsely diagnosed?

I got score: 15 ... on that test:

The ones where I got points, I had answered "slightly" on all of them except question #29 (but there are a lot of others that memorize phone-numbers better than me):
And a quick online test.
