CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Basically limbo was an idea thrown around by medieval theologians who favored a somewhat legalistic interpretation of the Holy Scriptures. The idea was:
A) You must be baptized to get into heaven.
B) But some infants die before they can be baptized.
C) So these unbaptized infants can't go to heaven.
D) But if God is just, He wouldn't send innocent infants to hell.
E) But because they're unbaptized, even though they won't be sent to hell, they can't enter heaven either. Ergo:
F) They go to a totally different place where they live happily ever after, and for lack of a better term, we'll call that place "limbo".
Limbo was never embraced as an official doctrine of the Church; it was merely a concept, an idea, that the Scholastic theologians contemplated. Today, the concept has been shelved, and as the current Catechism states, unbaptized infants are left to the compassion and mercy of God, Who will surely care for them and place them where He sees fit, in His infinite wisdom.

The source I was looking at said that it was also for people that were not saved, but did not have greivous sins.
They waited there for final judgment. So I guess the catholics believe now these people and unbaptized babies burn in Hell?

NO that is not the Catholic belief. Look above:
Nowhere does that say that unbaptised babies "burn in hell."

As a catholic I too was taught that unbaptized babies can never enter heaven, they stay in limbo forever. Glad to hear the church changed their scriptural error. They just keep improving! Thank God.

Yikes Debbie, just cause you had an ignorant teacher doesn't mean the Church changed their position.
It's like me saying: "my third grade teacher told me cat was spelt K-A-T. Glad to hear Webster's changed their mistake and now spell it C-A-T. The dictionary just keeps improving!"
