A little 'assignment' i was set this week was to think about taking a photo playing with light.

Now as a Motorsports chaplain, I had a drag racing event last weekend, and really wanted to get out there at night to get a photo of a Top Fuel dragster lighting up the nights sky with it's Nitros Oxide!

however i was too tired and didn't make it.

last night i decided to try out a few of the filters i have, and grabs some of my brother's 21st Birthday cake and experimented a little bit.

what do you think? I like the effect my 'star eight' filter gives.

I like how you can see the wicks through the fire and how well you captured the flames light. very enjoyable.

Very nice, its a good effect used well.....................ehrm...................no chance of a bit of that birthday cake winging its way over to the UK....................please .

woohooo- a boost for me this morning was to check out the Digital Photography School blog for the weekly mini-contest results. My birthday cake shot was the first of the 'Notable Mention' shots. Needless to say I'm stocked that out of over 100 photos mine was picked in the top 3.

Very neat pictures. I have found photography to be a very enjoyable art form, especially with the great digital cameras and computers. They have transformed the art into something totally new.
