God is listening. The question is, are we?
Numbers 11:29 - But Moses said to him, "Are you jealous for my sake? Would that all the LORD's people were prophets, that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!"
I think the bible has a number of secret messages. I think that the prophecies of the old testament spoke to us througth symbolism, and Jesus spoke to us through parables because God wants us to delve deeper than just what's on the surface. And I think the bible has a lot of great messages that are as plain as day, but one keeps popping up when you dig deeper. God wants us to listen. He'd like us all to be prophets. He wants us to be able to surrender our voices and our minds to His will and seek His instruction in our daily lives. Only He can know what is best. And if we ask He will tell us. And His sheep know His voice.
"He who has ears to hear, let him hear"
- Matthew 11:15, Mark 4:9, Mark 4:23, Luke 8:8, Luke 14:35
I've been a "listener" for17 years now. I can remember the first time I heard God speak to me. I was kneeling by my bed intently praying for forgivness for a sin that I committed a year before - one I knew was very bad. I had stolen some money from a complete stranger. I prayed for God to forgive me almost every night since I committed the sin. I asked "please, let me hear you say you're forgiven?" and I hear Him say "Son, you were forgiven a LONG TIME AGO for this! QUIT ASKING ME! Every time you ask, you remind me of your sin!" When you forgive, you must forget.
I was without a doubt hearing God. For even though his words (which were not audible, but like a clear imagination of a voice, like when you're half asleep and half awake, and you jolt awake because you swore you heard someone call your name. It was like that) were stern, I could feel love in them still. And every time I've heard them since, I still feel nothing but complete love.
Long story short, He proved to me over and over again for 13 years that I was indeed hearing His voice - His Holy Spirit. He would tell me things about myslef, about others, and on several occassions He'd tell me the future - and it would always occur just as he said. But that's very rare. Becuase he told me that He can't let us know the future, because if we know it, then the devil will know it too. The devil can see into our hearts and minds. And he will work his hardest to prevent God's plan if he knows what it is. Besides, blind faith is most precious to God.
But I'm hear to say that I think this is one of the most hidden purposes of the bible. I believe it's a roadmap to holiness that will allow Him to speak in us and through us.
I'm not terrible good at explaining this. But there is a lady who does a very good job at it. She is a listener too. I recently discovered her website and on it she has an entire book that was dictated by the Spirit. It really opens up the heart and mind to God's Voice. I encourage everyone to check it out. The book is called powerlust. It's at powerlust.com.
It will help open your mind to a new relationship with God.
