God providentially allowed me to be born in a Christian home. I am Zam Sian Khai. I am the eleventh child of thirteen kids, seven boys and six girls. My parents love the LORD and want their children to do likewise. I went to Sunday school regularly. I got so mad with my family when they asked me to keep horses and cows in the jungle on Sundays. Our family had a regular Bible reading and prayer together nightly. I can still clearly remember when my dad wanted to start a service, two of the boys (including me sometimes) would be starting to fight each other for no reasons. Then my dad would say, "Satan does not like what we are about to do. Let's resist the temptation and get going." I had a hundred percent positive-feeling about going to heaven when I die at the time because I thought I was a good kid who prays nightly and goes to Sunday School regularly. However, I did not know God even though I thought I did. I was not in the family of God though I was in a Christian family. I was heading to the road that seems right, not knowing that I was at the edge of the burning hell. I thought my goodness, obedience, and religion would let me into heaven.
Oops I was completely wrong. I did not realize my real condition and true destiny until the night I made a U-turn in my life. There was an Evangelistic Service at our church. Following the service, a youth leader talked to me about the Gospel of Christ. He kindly asked, "Do you know what would happen if you die? Will you go to heaven or hell?" To which I quickly replied, "Of course, to heaven." "Why?" he insisted. I ignorantly and shamelessly said, "I am a good kid; I go to Sunday School and I pray with my family every night." Well, he turned to his Bible and read, "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God," (Rom. 3:23). He said, "We are sinners not by choice, but by nature." "What do you mean?," I inquired further. His answer came in these words, "For the wages of sin is death," to which I was puzzled and confused. At that moment I felt guilty about myself. Then he continues, " but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Rom. 6:23). I was so troubled and so disturbed within my soul. The Holy Spirit started convicting me of my sins of pride, self-righteousness, and ignorance. My counselor turned another verse in the Bible which read, "For God so loved the world and gave His only begotten Son and whosoever believeth in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). I knew this verse so well from my Sunday School that I could recite it word for word, but I did not experience it until that very moment. He finally asked me, "Do you want to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior? He loves you and died for your sins. If you confess your sins He will forgive you and give you the peace that passeth all understanding." Finally, I surrendered my life to the Savior who died for me and gave Himself for me by asking Him to forgive my sins and accept me as His dear child. After I prayed, I had peace of mind and the assurance of salvation.
That was the U-turn of my life. I was heading to hell as every one else who has not accepted Christ as his or her Savior, but the Lord pulled me out of the way and changed me and turned me around. I was spiritually born into the family of God at that moment. What a joy it was to know that I am accepted just as I am in God and His family. Before that, I was not in the family of God because I was not yet born in God's family, I did not know Him experientially until I met with Him face to face on my road to destruction- Hell. If God could save such a wicked sinner as I am, he can save any body. He can save you. You might not have been born in a Christian home, but you can be born in the family of God. You might have been born in a Christian family as I was, but you still need to be born into the family of God if you want to go to heaven. Dear friends, if you happen to read my testimony, I want to invite you to do the same as I did. God loves you as much as He loves me. God in His love and mercy sent His only Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins. We are born with sin, but we can be saved by spiritual birth. A spiritual birth is an experience when you accept God as your Savior by confessing your sins and admitting that you are a sinner. God has done all for us. He has paved the way and laid before us. I have made a U-turn in my life. If you have never made a U-turn, please do so now.
You can become a child of God right now. Ask the Lord to come into your heart. If you sincerely pray God to forgive your sins, He will immediately forgive you. He knows your heart and your thoughts. Accept Him now before it is too late. Otherwise, one day you will not be able to make a U-turn any more. The grace-period will be over then. But, now, it is your time and your choice. Will you do it? May the Lord bless you as you make your right choice now. Amen.
