  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Emily.Archer - Iowa.USA

Hello from Iowa! My name is Emily Archer. The greatest thing that has ever happened to me in my entire life happened when I was just seven years old. At such a young age, I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. During a Sunday evening service, I remember realizing for the first time that I was a sinner, just like everyone else in the world. Romans 3:23 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." I also realized that the punishment for my sin was death, and that I was separated from God because of that sin (Romans 6:23).

I grasped the truth that there was nothing I could do to save myself from my sins (Titus 3:5). I understood that even though I was a sinner and deserved the punishment of hell, God provided a way for my sins to be forgiven. A very well-known verse that means a lot to me is John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."

I realized that God sent his only Son to this earth, and that He was perfect in every way. Because Jesus Christ was perfect, He became the final sacrifice for the sins of the world when He was crucified on a cruel cross. (Romans 5:8) Although He did nothing to deserve this hideously painful death, He had such a love for us that He willingly gave up His life so that those who put their trust in Him can have eternal life in Heaven. That night, after realizing that I was lost in my sins and in need of a Savior, I prayed and asked Jesus Christ to take away my sins and give me a new life in Him.

That night, I crossed over from living in the darkness of my sins to living in the light of God's love and forgiveness! Although Christ had saved me from my sins, I did not live a life that showed that I was a Christian. I struggled a lot through my junior high years with different areas of sin. My group of friends were a terrible influence on me, and my attitude and actions were no different than those of a non-Christian. I knew that my actions were not pleasing to the Lord, but I had no real desire to change my behavior.

The summer of my seventh grade year, however, I went to a Bible camp where I was extremely convicted of the way that I had been living. A very godly man whom I respect very much showed me from the Word of God that I could change the way that I was living and get my life right with God. I recognized that I had not been spending any time in prayer or reading the Word of God, so I made a commitment that I would set aside time every day to do these things. It was amazing to see how God worked through me just spending time in prayer and in reading the Word. I started learning so many things about how I could change my life in order that I might be more effective for God's work here on earth.

The way in which God has worked on my heart since that time is amazing! I have grown to have such a fondness for the Word of God, and I love to spend time in communication with God through prayer. It took a lot of prayer, reading the Bible, and encouragement from other believers for me to change my life around...a change like that does not happen overnight! It is so awesome for me to look back at the person I was, and see how far I've come. It is all because of the grace of God that I am where I am at today. I am so glad that even when I was unfaithful to God, He never once gave up on me! I pray that if you are reading this and you are struggling with sin or are weary of seeing only small steps of progression on your road to change, that you will take heart that God is faithful! He will never give up on you! God's love for all mankind is absolutely amazing, and He is not about to give up on you...don't give up on Him!

I am excited to see where God is going to lead me and the ways in which He is going to continue to work in my life. I know that I want to be involved in full-time Christian ministry, and I am praying that God will guide and direct me to exactly where He wants me. I can tell you that there is nothing more rewarding than surrendering your life to Christ and letting Him lead you wherever He wants you! It is my prayer that if someone is reading these testimonies and does not know Jesus Christ as their Personal Savior, that they would pray and ask God to forgive them of their sins. Romans 10:9-10 says, "That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Jesus said Himself in John 10:10 that He came to this earth in order that we might have life...eternal life in Heaven with Him! What a powerful and loving God we serve!
