Praise the Lord, what a privilege it is to know God and have a personal relationship with Him through faith and trust in Jesus Christ.
I grew up on a farm 20 miles South of Waterloo, Iowa near Dysart, Iowa. I was one of eleven children, my parents were both Christians and we faithfully had family devotions, that is we regularly read the Bible and had prayer together as a family. Even though my parents were Christians and we attended Church regularly there was not a strong emphasis to know Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. My parents had high morals and filthy dirty talking was not tolerated. Many times I had my mouth washed out with soap when I said bad words or told a lie. I really loved my parents and appreciated them and it hurt me when I disobeyed them and brought disgrace to them and my family. My parents had a good reputation in the church and community. My mother somehow with all the farm work and taking care of the children found time to teach a Sunday school class.
But with all the good teaching I received, it did not make me a Christians. I was considered a religious person. At twelve years of age in an Evangelistic meeting in our church I heard Gods word preached on how you can know for sure you are going to heaven. I heard that the Bible taught I was a sinner that I had a sin nature. That is I was spiritually dead in my sin without hope and was headed for an eternity in hell. That night I realized that Jesus Christ took my sin on the cross, suffered, shed His blood and died for me in my place on the cross. I deserved death and hell for being a sinner, (Romans 6:23) but Jesus died for me, my good works - going to church, baptism, observing communion and being good to other people would not save me and satisfy a Holy, righteous God. (Ephesians 2:8-9) I realized my only hope was to receive Jesus Christ - The one who died for me as my personal Savior. (Romans 5:8, John1:12, Acts 4:12) So I prayed admitting to God that I was a sinner and could not save myself by doing religious things, good works and that Jesus Christ who died, paid my debt on the cross was my only hope. So by faith I asked Jesus Christ to come into my life, forgive me of my sin and save me. On the basis of Gods word He saved me, gave me eternal life in Jesus Christ. ( John 3:16, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:12, Romans 10:9-11,13)
Why don't you do that right now, before it's too late. Admit to God you are a sinner and by faith receive Jesus Christ as your personal savior. Absolutely no other religion can save you - only Jesus Christ can give you eternal life. At the moment Jesus Christ entered my life several things happened. I will name a few of them.
1. I was forgiven of all my sin - past, present and future because Christ paid the penalty for my sin.
2. I was given peace with God through Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1)
3. I was given eternal life and it can never be taken from me. (John 10:28, Romans 8:38-39)
4. I now have a hunger to know God and please Him in all I do. (Philippians 3:10-14)
5. My eternal home is in heaven. (John 14:1-3)
6. He gave me a desire to talk to Him in prayer.
7. I have the assurance that if I were to die now I would go directly to heaven. (2 Corinthians 5:6-9)
8. I have a desire to witness to others on how they can know Jesus Christ as their Savior. (Acts 1:8)
9. I have the Holy Spirit dwelling in my life to give me the ability to live and please God. (Ephesians 1:13-14)
10. I discovered a Joy that God gives as I live and obey Him. (John 15:10-11)
11. Many changes came into my life. (Galatians 5:16-26)
Since Jesus Christ came into my life at age 12 He has been directing my life according to His word the Bible. Through my High School days, college days, and even while serving 2 years in the Army, and He brought a wonderful Christian young lady who became my wife and is now in heaven with the Lord she loved.
Friend, you don't know what life really is like until you know Jesus Christ and live for Him. He only satisfies, which is not found in money, cars, success, position, drugs, etc...
Do you know for sure you will go to heaven at death?
You can know - Receive Christ now as your Savior and obey His word. Praising the Lord for all God has done for me.
