Hi! I would like to start a discussion about Yann Martel's "Life of Pi" Vintage Canada Edition, 2002.
It can be for anyone who has read the book (the animal version) who would like to discuss any theme, topic, character, literary technique, ect.
To start, I have two ideas to start the discussion.
On page 352, what I feel is the punchline of the book, when Pi Patel says, "Thank you. And so it goes with God."
I think this may confirm the statement in the author's note, when it says, I have a story that will make you believe in God. I think it is important how not one particular God is mentioned, more specifically what religion he is talking about. Especially how he is Christian, Hindu, Muslim. Why is this such an important line of the book and how does it add to the completion of the story?
Also, what is the significance of the tree on the island full of teeth?
