IS it just me or is the midwest rather boring? I would love to see the ocean, the west coast, the east coast etc

What are your thoughts?

(I lived in the midwest my entire life and rarely leave)

My son told me once...he travels a lot for his job and he said I've met a lot ppl but none that are even close to being anything like those in the midwest( where we're from) As far as being friendly,
helpful and honest. I hope you get to visit some big places just so you'll appreciate what you have.

I used to think that but I like the "farmy" look of parts of the Midwest. The problem is that "developers" are slowly inching their way into smaller towns and unraveling the tapestry of that town by building more stores, more apartments, etc. That's going to destroy the beauty of the Midwest. I swear they're not going to stop until every inch of beautiful land in the Midwest is used up.

I've lived in the Midwest most of my life (38 years). Minus 4 years I spent in the Middle East and 4 I spent in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. North Carolina was probably the best place in terms of scenery. You had mountains on one end of the state, although admittedly the Appalachians are not the Rockies, but still. And of course the Atlantic is on the other. In between is basically the Midwest.

That being said, I think the Midwest is not bad. Plus you are in a centralized location, so getting to either coast or the mountains is a shorter trip than if you lived in New York and wanted to see the Rockies you know.

I lived in Cheyenne. If you don't like the outdoors ....go west or east ....the Midwest is not the place for you.
I've lived here my entire life and plan on living here until I die. I would love to travel more and see more IMHO

You are correct in my experienced opinion. I moved to Virginia in the 80s after growing up in Indiana. There's a big, beautiful, fascinating world out here beyond flyover country. My suggestion is to explore that world while you have the health and time to travel. I visit the Midwest occasionally and it fascinates me how little things change. Even the asphalt hasn't changed. And people somehow accept how their leaders do nothing to help citizens. We pave our roads in Virginia every few years whether they need it or not. Many Americans accept mediocrity and substandard living because they have known nothing else.
One advantage to living in a purple state is we hold our politicians accountable at the ballot box. It makes it rather difficult for politicians to exploit us because they understand we are not letter voters. We vote qualified, respectable candidates regardless the party affiliation. Politicians will do our bidding or we vote them out. We don't reward their self-serving manipulation by reelecting them to office.
Go see the world and have some fun. Peace

I've lived in 7 different states, from the east coast to the mountain west (never quite made it to the west coast). Almost every place had something positive about it. The biggest positive was exploring different places, different people, different ways of life. My least favorite was Indiana. My favorite was Nevada. I currently live in Colorado. Not particularly crazy about living here, dearly want to move back to Las Vegas NV.
Travel, move every few years if you can. Explore.
