Refusing to discuss.
I noticed it in about every thread he posted in.
Gunnysgt, please explain now, why the Boy Scouts should get government funds, when excluding a significant portion of the US population from participation.

Hey be easy on ol Gunny. He's a Veteran, and we all know all Veterans are Good Christians and all Veterans should be treated with the respect their incredible wisdom dictates. All Veterans agree so they must all be right...

Wait a minute.... I'm a Veteran too... I'm not a Christian.... I disagree with Gunny all the time. Hmmm, maybe being a Veteran really isn't that relevant to this board, or to being right.

Dear witch aka Havoc, I have heard you state previously that you are a veteran which has seen combat.

Would you please enlighten as to what nation you served under and in which war/combat you served.

Also, if not too much trouble, what was your rank? MOS, if you served in the United States of America Armed Forces.

Gunnysgt, please, if you don´t want to discuss the topic at hand, at least write my nickname correctly.
So you repeatedly refuse to address the topic at hand, well that would be trolling in my opinion.
Why are you so afraid to have an own opinion? Or are you too afraid to voice an opinion, that could be at odds with a bible version?
I ask you again, why should the Boy Scouts refuse to let atheists join, but don´t object against any other faith? And with this conduct, why should the government fund an organisation, that excludes a significant portion of the people while claiming to be open for all people?

No Problem;

Canadian Army, joining rank Private, retiring rank Captain (Comissioned from the ranks). MOC 23A (Infantry officer)

Cyprus, Syria, Namibia, Desert Storm (with British Army), Croatia, Bosnia. Got my BSA, and a few souvenirs tucked away in a leg and a shoulder where it was easier to leave them in than remove them. My Nick refers to being the first Canadian to see and report the Russian Attack Helicopter of the same name in a combat zone, back when I was Bn Recce Platoon commander.

Just out of Curiosity Gunny, What Combat did you see? Got any souvenirs?

Three tours of duty during the Vietnam War with 1st Marine Division.

My MOS's were:8654 Roconnaissance Man, Parachute and SCUBA Qualified,
8541 Scout/Sniper

I have a shadow box with various decorations I received while serving my country in the USMC. My father who is deceased as of last year was in the USMC for 26 years has a shadow box(display case) with numerous decorations which is in my mother's home along with mine. My mother has a spare bedroom which is the USMC room in her home. Their along with much USMC memorabilia is displayed on the wall my father's shadow box along with mine.

I recently read in a gun magazine that a Canadian Army Sniper made the longest target neutralization in battle conditions while serving in Afghanistan. The next month a former member of this Canadian sniper team wrote the American published gun magazine thanking them for recognizing the skills of Canadian Army Snipers.

1st Div. Tough bunch. I'm aware of your Unit's Vietnam history. It figures rather highly in Military History studies in Kingston.

I've always been intrigued by the differences in employment strategy between Canadian Snipers and American Snipers. We don't use them agressively enough IMHO, I'd like to see more Canadian Snipers used in the Advance to Contact role like you folks do, rather than mostly defensive. I got into trouble more than once for letting my Snipers do Counter Sniping Operations on Patrol. But it's easier to get forgiveness than permission eh?

In any case I think my point in all this was to point out that, IMHO, you may be giving people the wrong idea when you purport that Christian and Marine go hand-in-hand. Most of the Marines I've known, and had the pleasure to bar brawl with, have been nominal Christians at best (ie believe in Christ because Mom did, but don't figure to do anything about it any time soon). I also know of quite a few Jewish, Atheist, Agnostic, and even two Pagan Marines. All of us from the Western Democracies who fought in all the conflicts from the Great War on are responsible for the freedoms we share, not just the Christians. Your Christianity may have helped you in your military career but I doubt it makes for good proof or even arguement religion wise. Comments that seem to indicate that Veteran=Earned Respect are valid, comments that Veteran=Christian are not... IMHO.

Honestly, I wasn't a Christian while in the USMC. I have come to know many Vietnam Vets including, but not limited to the Corps that have been born again and become Christians since after being in service to the United States. My involvment with Pointman Ministries has allowed me to meet many Marines that are Christians, retired, active and reserves.

You stubbornly refuse to address the point of the thread.
I can only assume, that you aren´t intersted in the slightest in a meaningful discussion.
Please answer the question at hand, Why should Boy Scouts exclude Atheists but not any other religion from their ranks? And why should they get government funds while doing so? Please use your own words.

Lacmeh, you need to stand down a might.

First of all, I don't or have not created my version of God. I as a Christian know that the Bible describes the nature of God(The Father, The Son[Jesus Christ], The Holy Spirit).

Being a follower of Jesus Christ isn't about creating my own god and then living my life however I choose.

The way of the Cross is about obedience to the God revealed to the believer through God's Word and the Holy Spirit.

Concerning the Boy Scouts of America, I believe in a time such as this, this one time honored God fearing, God believing organization has the right to exist regardless of the liberal critics that want to remove everything that reminds them and offends them, that being God.

No one here contested the right of any religious goup to exist, as long as its mode of conduct is in accordance to human rights and national law.
Please answer now the question, why Boy Scouts should exclude atheists but not any other religion and why they should receive government funding while doing this.

As far as websites go, everyone here,t hat isn´t affiliated with the owner, is a visitor, regardless of his faith or nonfaith.

Well i guess, you have the right to answer anyone in any way you choose. I have on the other hand the right to ask questions and when the one asked does repeatedly dodge the question at hand, I have the right to assume, that the same one isn´t interested in a discussion.

These discussion forums here under the folder Open Discussion are welcoming anyone, regardless of faith or nonfaith last time I checked.

Or are you so blinded, that you won´t acknowledge the fact, that the Boy Scouts are a worldwide organisation? And that the mode of conduct in the USA has some meaning elsewhere?
Wha tis concluded, is that you still refuse to answer my questions, thus proving my point. as a citizen of the uSA, you should be glad, that I ask question instead of jumping to conclusions on media reports.
