honestly,
you (not you personally) need to use that brain that God gave you along with what the Scriptures say, not what you want/think it is saying.
just because one goes to college, or a seminary college
that they are off limits to the wiles of the evil one?
is that what your telling me?
Dont forget what you posted in another topic
First you say: which means the Holy Spirit is all you need, no pastors, no forums, no debate, no school..no college.
but then you not only quote from a seminary website (guess what, that means they went to college) you also say that is what seminary is for (how does one practice seminary? by going to college)
this is a classic case of anti-institutionalism.
Where one believes institutions are evil and therefore merely relies on ones own logic.
No where does paul say He counts his formal education as dung or garbage.
"All things as loss" refers to the things in verses 5-6
A verse without a context is a pretext
No one in their right mind would call education garbage.
We might as well call reason obsurd
Which is nonsense.
Another similiar passage in 1 Corinthians 3:19 it states "the wisdom of the world is foolishness"
and I thought Barnes did a good commentary on that verse:
Barnes' Notes on the Bible
For the wisdom of this world - That which is esteemed to be wisdom by the people of this world on the subject of religion. It does not mean that true wisdom is foolishness with him. It does not mean that science, and prudence, and law - that the knowledge of his works - that astronomy, and medicine, and chemistry, are regarded by him as folly, and as unworthy the attention of people. God is the friend of truth on all subjects; and he requires us to become acquainted with his works, and commends those who search them, Psalm 92:4; Psalm 111:2. But the apostle refers here to that which was esteemed to be wisdom among the ancients, and in which they so much prided themselves, their vain, self-confident, and false opinions on the subject of religion; and especially those opinions when they were opposed to the simple but sublime truths of revelation. See the note at 1 Corinthians 1:20-21.
im not saying school is bad lol
But like your little commentary said "foolishness dealing with religion"
yet that is what seminary is.....
You think cuz someone goes to seminary they are a man of God?
I will ask again since you cant answer the question
Did the evil one deceived outside of heaven, or inside?
you blindly follow people who say "im a brother" "i went to seminary" instead of testing each person to know if they are a false disciples or false teacher
i know what Philippians is saying about he considered all a loss from the things listed in verses 5-6
but then look what he says "What is more, I consider everything a loss"
what does everything mean?
Do you think paul was an unlearned man? yet everything he threw away for Christ
im not calling edu garbage.
but to blindly follow people who are in 'seminary" .......is you leading yourself down the wrong path....
dont just say to yourself "o hey they are from college, they believe as i do, they went to seminary" and then not do your due diligence to see if what they are saying is true toward the bible....
then im sorry you take lightly your soul.....
i however, will not take lightly what i am fed.
"a little yeast leavens the whole batch"
please tell me, how much is a little?
a multitude of counselors does not mean that i have to go with every doctrine that spews out of peoples mouths, i explained that verse last night.
if im going to seminar class and they ask me to do a research paper on "Lets talk about hell"
i wouldnt use any outside sources, therefore i wouldnt have to list anything
what church you go to?
Just curious if your pastor has any professional eduction or if He believes as you do.
I got to several churches to see what they are teaching....
recently i have been attending the same one the past few weeks
your not getting what im saying....
i dont care what schooling he has, if he is speaking the truth then ima beleive him.
So far the church i go to, speaks the truth based upon the topic he is talking about that week.
if a bum, came to me and spoke the truth over a pastor i would trust the bum over the pastor
it seems as if you take the word of a "pastor" over other people for some reason...
dont let this scripture be fulfilled in you
" If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, Heres a good seat for you, but say to the poor man, You stand there or Sit on the floor by my feet, 4 have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts"
your showing favoritism on someone just because they are "educated" and went to "seminary" and had "formal training"......
examine yourself friend.
so you have no home church? Not good.
first of all
i am the church
not some building made by humans hands
i can fellowship with believers without going to a church.........
second of all you didnt read my post
i can tell, because that isnt what i said lol
so you dont' believe in church now, huh?
how many times are you going to keep saying things i didnt say or imply?
soon ima stop responding to your foolish posts.
you said you would rather be alone than go to church, or something like that.
no i didnt...
you cant even properly repeat what i didnt say....
your something else grady
Wrong! Arabic demons (also spelled “afrits” . Djinns In Muslim tradition, powerful spirits which can transform themselves into various shapes, also spelled “jinns,” “jinees,” and “genies” (Arabic). Shaitan Muslim (Arabic) name for Satan, and amalgamated with the Christian Satan.
Some animals are more sensitive to spirits than others. Cats are always looking at things that humans can't see, as most cat owners acknowledge as mysteriously true. That is precisely why cats are so popular as familiars.I guess the point of the Balaam story is that donkeys can see things we can't.
Let me explain this to you brothers and sisters
This is about God. Now put some thought, and meditate on what i say please
Stop using conjecture based upon what you think, and base it on what the scriptures say..
Firstly,
Hell was/is prepared for the devil and his angels, not man. It was not meant for man, for if it was they would have included man in that statement.
This suggest that before man was created, did the rebellion happen.
Now Let me give you some insight brothers and sisters about the evil one and God
The evil one deceived 1/3 of beings that knew God fully and lived in his presence. Go ahead and contemplate that power, just for a moment. Dont dwell on it, or you will seriously bring into question what/if you can trust anything in this world (this includes all those commentaries, books, that most of you read).
This is why Gehenna was prepared for the devil and his angels. They had sinned before man was created. The thought that the devil was right, even though they knew who God was fully. What a shame huh.
Now lets take a look at man
man got played by the greatest liar this universe has known. he is so good he tricked angels, who knew God fully (there is a reason i keep saying it)
man has only been deceived. man didnt know God fully and still reject him, like the angels did
man has been tricked. man didnt know both sides fully and then make a choice.
This is why God wont punish people forever. They have been deceived and these same people never knew God fully, "they know not what they do" for they have only been deceived.
Sure they made choices, and they will have to pay for those choices. But one of those choices wasnt to know who God is and to actually see him and to actually live in his presence and still make a choice to reject him
That is why God holding man as he holds angels who have seen him, at the same accountability, is unreasonable
for you to want so hard for unbelievers to stay in hell forever, shows what Joy you get out of watching people suffer. The joy is for justice, not suffering, there is a difference. And you condone your joy for suffering by saying "God says it is"
when that really isnt the case
IOWLBNIF: I have found over the years that when people say to me repeatedly that I am not listening to them and keep repeating themselves, that they are the ones who are in fact not listening. Normal people acknolwedge me as a very attentive listener, even over vehement disagreement.
That is how I see you and Grady. You keep saying that Grady isn't listening to you, when in fact he has been answering you directly from the Bible. So you keep repeating your false assertion as though Grady didn't get you the very first time you said it.
Clearly the Bible says that Adam was not decieved, and you are the only person besides Jews that I have ever heard suggest that Adam was present when the serpant made his arguments.
What this has to do with Hell and whether or not there is an afterlife, I do not know.
There are multiple passages that show the dead are conscious after death.
In 1Samuel 28 the witch (servant of satan) is instructed by the king to "conjure up for me whomever I request" -- this is a conjuring exercise. And the witch alone claims to SEE the being she is conjuring up for the king.1st Samuel 28:11-19 - samuel talked with a witch after death
Matt 12 does NOT say that Jonah spoke after dying so that is a dead end for your argument.Matthew 12:40 (Jonah 2) – Jonah spoke as one from hell who was dead.
Elijah never died - according to 2Kings 2.Matthew 17:2-3 – Moses and Elias were talking with Jesus after their death.
In Matt 22 your entire argument is shot in the foot because in that chapter Christ argues that the PROOF of the future resurrection lies in the fact that God is NOT the God of the dead. Christ is arguing that the ONLY way God could claim to be the God of Abraham at any point after Abraham dies - is for there to be a future resurrection.Matthew 22:31-32 – Abraham was dead, but still living.
The Luke 16 parable of praying to the dead has Abraham as the Sovereign of all saints in heaven. To Abraham alone is the prayer and plea made. From Abraham alone comes the response that he will not permit someone to be resurrected. Notice however that in that parable the agreed upon point is that CONTRARY to the 1Sam 28 claims of the witch - the ONLY way that the dead can minister to the living is for one of them to be resurrected!!Luke 16:19-31 – Jesus tells the story of dead people speaking in hell. (Some wrongly think this is a parable.
Luke 23Luke 23:43 – Jesus says the malefactor will be in paradise with him “today”.
1Thess 4 says that AT the coming of Christ "the dead in Christ WILL RISE first and we who are alive and remain WILL be caught UP with them in the air.. so shall we ever be WITH the Lord, therefore comfort one another with these words".1 Thessalonians 5:10 – Whether they wake or sleep they live with the Lord.
There is not ONE text in all of scripture that says "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." -- no not even one....no not even in 2Cor 5:6-10.2 Corinthians 5:6-8 – Paul explains that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
That is true - but in 2Cor 12 Paul is not talking about someone who died. He is talking about himself.2 Corinthians 12:2-4 – Paul describes someone who heard things possibly out of his body.
Paul says in Phil 1 that he desires to "Depart AND be with Christ" - but he does not say that to depart IS to be with Christ as if the act of dying alone accomplishes what we are already told in 1Thess 4 and 1Cor 15 will only happen at the 2nd coming.Philippians 1:23 – Paul says that he would depart to be with Christ, not unconscious.
Apocalyptic symbols.Revelation 6:9-11 – The souls of the dead are crying out to God.
Sleep never refers to the soul or spirit. It only applies to the body.
