How many of you have grandchildren? I want grandbabies but I want them in God's timing. Ya know? I hope He doesn't return TOO soon so I could at least have one. Am I selfish?

I would love them, but my oldest one has no intention of marriage or otherwise. So there goes that idea.

My husband wants to be a grandpa ... I think there must be something wrong with me because even tho I love children (babies esp) I'm not in any hurry to be a grandma. My daughter (17) says she doesn't want to have kids, but neither did I when I was her age. My son (14) doesn't know. I've told both of them to do whatever they want, altho they should make sure their spouses are in agreement.

I'm actually looking forward to no children in the house and just me and my hubby to pass the rest of our lives together ... not that I wouldn't mind visits from my kids now and then

I do too, but I know it will happen in God's timing. Neither of my children are married, but my son now has a serious girlfriend, and they have discussed future children. Twins are in our family, and she told him that if she gets pg with twins, the other needs to stay where it is!! lol! I told her I didn't think it worked that way!

My my youngest is 19 mos., so I just have to worry about living to see him graduate!

It really freaks me out when I think that had I started at 18 or so, I very well could be a grandfather by now.

Grandchildren sounds okay, I guess. But I hope I won't become a grandma soon. My son is 19 and my daughter is 14.

I have one grandson and he is SO precious!!! Almost eight months old. To be honest, I'm glad it's not me with one so young...Whew! My kids ran my legs off!

Nope. God created us to nurture not just for 18 years, but for life. It's only natural to want a grandbaby to nurture.

Eventually I would like grandchildren but considering mine own are only 17 and 15, I agree with Tattered, at least for awhile. I think a few years of respite is needed for us, and some years of maturing and enjoying young adult life for my kids, before grandchildren arrive.

You have a point. My oldest is 25. He has been married for 3 years. They're waiting until they finish graduate school.
I think once your children get married, you get kinda; antsy for it.

I don't have any kids either, but in our age-bracket, if God blesses you with a wife there's a pretty good chance that stepchildren will be part of the package. So you could have grandkids just as soon as any of us.

To love is the most important admonision in the Bible. Your desire is out of love. There is nothing selfish whatsoever with wanting to love a grandchild.
