It is not incorrect to say that many who transitioned when they were still kids are now sincerely regretting the surgery and treatments done to them.

It is not incorrect to say that transgender ideology and transgenderism is mutilating children.

I supposed that depends on how you define "many." Is that number above zero? Sure. Is the percentage of people who regret transitioning surgery abnormally high relative to other surgeries? Not that I'm aware of. For example, I recall seeing stats (though I don't have them on hand at the moment) that regret rates for transition surgery were well within the bounds of normal, if not lower than normal, and far below the rates for some such as back surgery.

Now, I can appreciate that the nature of gender transition surgery is such that one would want to be really sure about it before committing. But if we're going to wring our hands over people regretting this decision, we ought to maintain some perspective. Some amount of people are going to regret virtually any decision.

With enough time and medical advancements, most medical practices of today will look bad in retrospect. There's a chance that one day, we can find the root cause behind gender disphoria and can help people suffering from it to feel at home in the bodies they were born with, if they want to. But at the moment, gender reassignment surgery is for many patients the best treatment on offer, with a "regret" rate that is far below what some people want to make you believe and a marked decrease in self-harm and suicide incidents.

I can see that there is an argument to be had regarding the treatment of children, but for adults, the outcome is generally positive. And in the end, it's their body to do with as they want to.

This being done to children is the issue.

Nothing much that I know of has ever been done to try stopping adults from getting extreme body alterations that go as far as choosing to have limbs amputated.
