I had clipped a portion of this for another thread, and thought, I put it back into the context I was looking at it (along with) the other verses I was looking at. I repeat a little to show a patern in the wording
Jerm 23:28 The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully.
What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.
So...
1Cr 14:29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
1Thes 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Duet 13:1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
Mat 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
Second half of Duet 13:1
Duet 13:2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;
Duet 13:3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams:
Notice the reason given for this is ...
For the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
Who loveth Him not?
John 14:24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
Again, notice how its worded around these things
1Cr 14:29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
1Thes 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
Again, why?
For the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
Acts 17:11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Notice the "whether ye love the Lord your God" in the one, and in being more noble in the recieving the word (with all readiness of mind) searching the scriptures "whether those things" were so"? As Paul says, "prove all things", whereas here it says...
Prov 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
Rev 2:2 I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:
Romans 3:4... yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
Again...
1Cr 14:29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
John 14:24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.
And Jesus says...
Mat 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Again...
That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.
Just thought I'd post these, a few Im looking at along with some others I am considering and ordering up aright.
