  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Let God Lead Us

I was walking down a dimly lit street one evening when I heard muffled screams coming from behind a clump of bushes. Alarmed, I slowed down to listen, and panicked when I realized that what I was hearing were the unmistakable sounds of a struggle: heavy grunting, frantic scuffling, and tearing of fabric.

Only yards from where I stood, a woman was being attacked.

Should I get involved?

I was frightened for my own safety, and berated myself for having suddenly decided to take a new route home that night. What if I became another statistic? Shouldn't I just run to the nearest phone and call the police?

Although it seemed an eternity, the deliberations in my head had only taken seconds, but already the girl's cries were growing weaker.

I knew I had to act fast. How could I walk away from this?

No, I finally resolved, I could not turn my back on the fate of this unknown woman, even if it meant risking my own life.

I am not a brave man, nor am I athletic. I don't know where I found the moral, courage and physical strength, but once I had finally resolved to help the girl, I became strangely transformed.

I ran behind the bushes and pulled the assailant off the woman. Grappling, we fell to the ground, where we wrestled for a few minutes until the attacker jumped up and escaped.

Panting hard, I scrambled upright and approached the girl, who was crouched behind a tree, sobbing. In the darkness, I could barely see her outline, but I could certainly sense her trembling shock. Not wanting to frighten her any further, I at first spoke to her from a distance.

"It's OK," I said soothingly. "The man ran away. You're safe now."

There was a long pause and then I heard the words, uttered in wonder, in amazement.

"Dad, is that you?"

And then, from behind the tree, stepped my youngest daughter, Katherine.

This is so true! How many times do we ignor God's leading us on? The person we help may not always be related as in this story but when we help another God sometimes helps or prompts someone else to step in and help one of our loved ones.
I remember when one of my sons had been missing for almost a month (after promising to show up for church and a Chinese Luncheon the next day. if you knew my son you'd be worried too!) Finally one afternoon I called almost everyon I knew to agree with me in prayer for his safety and safe return. I marked the date in my calender and we began to pray.
One week later he showed up with the following account of the first morning. He had been on the highway (at the exact timing my husband and I
opened our door to help a young lady who had just been an attempted rape victim) and was in the far left lane next to a concrete wall with a 16 wheeler one lane over and in front of him. The 18 wheeler must not have seen him and cut in on the left lane hitting the right side of his van blowing the right passenger window into a million pieces inside the van. He managed to slow down enough to keep form being squished between the wall and 18 wheeler and drove for a mile before he could actually pull over and check the damage. His arm was slightly cut from the glass and there was alot of glass in his hair sbut Thank God the glass did not harm his face or his eyes! As for the van only a long thin scratch. When we helped the young lady (4 other households had ignored), God blessed us by taking care of our son. Only God could have allowed him to walk out of that kind of wreck.

P.S. - the driver of the rig never knew what happened I guess because he never stopped.

God Bless you and your wife!
