• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi Friends,

OCD is a true roller coaster. As my day filled with obsessive thinking winds down and I reflect on my fears of blasphemous thoughts and losing salvation, I realize I need to recognize (moreover, praise) the Sovereignty of God.

God is the one who saves through His beautiful plan accomplished in Jesus. What else can we do? Upon whom does our salvation rest: Christ or our ability to control our thoughts?

We are correct in thinking we are unworthy of our salvation, but it's here and although it seems to good to be true, it's ours. God's will to save us is so strong, that we cannot resist it. His call has brought us here. We are all struggling because we are perfectionists and think that we have to "do" or "not do" something to be worthy. That thinking makes us pretty big and God pretty small. Therein perhaps lies the real sin, pride. I am not assigning blame. It's partially our condition, but partially our human nature. We try to "fix" or undo our thoughts, which leads to more obsessive thinking.

"Letting go and letting God" as they say is the best we can do. Humbling ourselves before the Lord and asking Him to take our brokeness and fix it is the first step and I have to repeat it over and over for myself. The next step is to TRUST that He will fix it. We obviously cannot fix it. But isn't this true freedom, knowing that we don't have to fix it? We have a God who is so great and mighty that not only can He fix it, but He wants to fix it. All we have to do is ask!

May we "let go and let God."
