  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Psalm 100 said:
<A Psalm of praise.> Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands. Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.

Let's use this thread to praise out God.

God is awesome!

38For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
33Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
34"Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?"
35"Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay him?"
36For from him and through him and to him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.
Romans 11:33-36

A simple praise - who would ever have thought of building a beautiful creation rather than just a function one? Who would have ever have thought of creating color? Or the scent of rosemary?

Who would have ever thought of planning every detail of every stone, every leaf, every blade of grass in the creation.... and knowing and sovereignly ruling them all?

Thanks 2Tim2 for starting this thread.

I praise the Lord that he is always there for us.

I have been having a hard time with my arthritis the last three weeks.
The past weekend my leg was so swollen I could hardly walk.
Sunday night I did not get much sleep because of the pain but focused on God.

Actually I started putting together (in my head) a "Prayer Request" to put on CF.
Then I started singing praises to our Lord.
Although I was tired yesterday the swelling is gone and I feel better than I have in awhile.
Thank you Jesus.

I also started a thread to share Praise Songs and Choruses.

Praise God that His mercy endures forever.

Unlike humans who run every which way and away from the character He calls us to, He never changes. When every person in the world you might have relied on has turned, when all the circumstances of life have gone awry - He is still there. He never changes and is the .only. constant in life.

4 Let those who fear the LORD now say,
"His mercy endures forever."

5 I called on the LORD in distress;
The LORD answered me and set me in a broad place.
6 The LORD is on my side;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?
- Ps 118

Psalms 117 said:
O praise the LORD, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people. (2) For his merciful kindness is great toward us: and the truth of the LORD endureth for ever. Praise ye the LORD.

Praise God for His great merciful kindness and for His Truth that sets us free.

Psalm 139
1 O lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.
2 Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.
3 Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.
4 For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O LORD, thou knowest it altogether.
5 Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?
8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;
10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.
12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.
13 For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.
14 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
15 My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
16 Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.
Praise God that I am His and that there is nowhere that I can go that He isn't there!

Revelation 5:12-1412 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. 13 And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. 14 And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.

I praise God that He sought me when I was lost.

In preparing my sermon on Luke 15:1-10 for tomorrow (The Church: God's Lost and Found), I encountered this wonderful ancient hymn. It's based on the parable of the lost sheep, written by a church father named Prudentius. It really got to me, and I thought I might share it... I've already posted it in the cafe, but I thought you guys might like to see it, too. Praise the Lord!!

When one ailing sheep lage behind the others
And loses itself in the sylvan mazes,
Tearing its white fleece on the thorns and briers,
Sharp in the brambles,
Unwearied the Shepherd, that lost one seeking,
Drives away the wolves and on his strong shoulders
Brings it home again to the fold's safekeeping,
Healed and unsullied.
He brings it back to the green fields and meadows,
Where no thorn bush waves with its cruel prickles,
Where no shaggy thistle arms trembling branches
with its tough briars.
But where palm trees grow in the open woodland,
Where the lush grass bends its green leaves, and laurels
shade the glassy streamlet of living water
Ceaselessly flowing.

isn't that beautiful?
