  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Lest we Forget

Father I thank You for our veterans today.

How fragile they really are, despite the uniforms, the stern faces and heavy marching, the artillery, the gritted teeth. How fragile they really are. Hearts as soft and vulnerable as anyone else's, as feeling and as breakable. Thank You Lord that they have You to look to, the comfort you provide and the standard that You set. Thank You Lord that there are those who forget about themselves and fight that we may be free, suffer that we may know joy, that die, that we may live...

If anyone wants to, they can visit a wonderful archive of real war letters and photographs from Canadian soldiers, many which were written literally from the trenches....from many authors who never saw their families again.

type www . mala . bc . ca / history / letters
inot your address bar (of course without the spaces) there you have it, from a small town University in western Canada.

Honor them by remembering. I don't believe our Father would forget.
