  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Lessien, I think he was just providing an analogy. Essentially it's like contrasting statements like, "I disagree with the Republican party," and "anyone who votes Republican is racist" (or choose a different label if "racist" is confusing) I think he's saying that it's OK to disagree with the Left Behind authors, but not to unfairly label them.

I actually read most of the books, I thought the first 2 or 3 were pretty good, but their readability sort of tapered off for me so I dont think I actually finished the series or got farther than those.

I saw some of the first movie but didnt think it very good.

Same here...I got to around to between 6 and 8 and they were ok but they kept going on and on. Way too many sermons in the book and the ending was way too drawn out. That said, I give the series a thumbs down for the way it ended...

Actually, its true...
Tim Lahaye (i think I spelt that right) wrote a book (at the minute I forget tha name) that said, in firendlier words, that anyone who didn't agree with (or taught other prophecy interpretations than) the theology presented in the Left Behind books were racist, that we hated jews and were racist towards jews (in other words -- anti jewish). I didn't know this until the latter half of last year, and I am stunned that I am considered "anti-jewish" by certain people. I love jews, I am not...

But anyways, I guess it could be taken as an anology and mean the same thing as well . But it is true, sady.
