LutherNut said:The AALC is a Lutheran synod that is comprised of congregations formerly from the old American Lutheran Church who refused to become part of the ELCA when it was formed in 1988. It has no ties with the ELCA. Their seminary recently relocated to the campus of Concordia Theological Seminary (LCMS) in Fort Wayne, IN.
The LCMC is an arm of, and has ties with, the ELCA.
Lutheran Churches in Mission for Christ.KEPLER said:LCMC = what?
"LCMC is also a centrist Lutheran church body, recognizing Scripture as the sole source and norm of faith and life, and therefore being a light to, rather than a reflection of, the world. LCMC celebrates the priesthood of all believers at every level. LCMC also constantly strives to support and uphold the pastoral ministry of the men and women called to serve its member congregations."

BTW, LCMS and TAALC are in the midst of fellowship discussions. Three topics were covered in early october (Church and Ministry; Lay Ministry; Charismatic Movement). Four more topics are scheduled for discussion in March.
cableguy said:why was the LCMC formed? If a Pastor from the ELCA became solely a LCMC pastor (by his congregation for instance totally taking themselves out of the ELCA), is he still considered to be a pastor for an ELCA church, or does that body then not recognize him?
