Latter rain

In the spring time feasts, pentacost came the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. Joel 2:23.

The former and the latter rain in the first month.....????

Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field. Zech. 10:1.

There are at least four "first" months in the Jewish year. Also agriculturally there is the "early" or spring rain, and the "latter" rain in the fall. Tishri is the fall "first month" and is the end of the harvest. Nissan/Aviv is the spring "first month" and is the beginning of the harvests.

Rain for growth
Follow the Lord as in moving on in the truth, with growth comes changes in understanding and behavior and committments to the Lord. Just as we read of the changes that Paul experienced and Peter experienced after the Holy Spirit came upon them in visions and experience. In our own life, we experience new light and are to grow with this change in our understanding of what God expects of us.

There is the former, which I will take to mean the converting "rain."
Then there is the latter, that which I will take to mean the final finishing touches to help us understanding the perfecting, and will give the strength and spiritual wisdom to do so.

As all things go, when more light is shed upon the early or latter rain, I will hopefully gratefully accept the wisdom of the Lord and move on in the truth.
