Larry & the Piccolo. (ed. AnutyLou)
Once upon a time there lived a young fellow who went by the name of Larry.
Larry lived in a mushroom...coz he was an elf.
Okay, Larry was a lonely elf so he used to play his piccolo to keep entertained. But then one day a badger came along...and asked him to play him a song on his piccolo. Larry decided to go along with the badger's plea, and he played a brilliant composition he had written himself.
A squirrel was passing by and heard the fantastic song...and he ran and told his friends about this amazing composition. A bluebird overheard the squirrel telling of the song, and he flew over to his friends and told them, and so they all flew over to see the great musician.
Before nightfall, the was quite a gathering of the woodland creatures around watching the elf play his amazing song... Pretty soon the whole forest was gathering at the home of our friend...
Unfortunately, they were all getting hungry, and Larry didn't have enough food for everyone. As it got dark the animals started to get hungry and thirsty...but it was too dark to go back through the perilous forest to find food...
just then the sky shone, the brightest light that anyone had ever seen! The animals looked up in shock to see a huge star in the sky. They looked closer at the star, and realised it wasnt a star but a comet that illuminated the whole forest. Scared, the animals tried to run for cover.
A flying saucer silently descended from the sky, shining brighter than the sun.
Then as their guiding light they began to follow the shining light out of the woods but then they heard a noise!
The bluebird tweeted in fright, and he dropped to the forest floor in a faint.
As the saucer got closer, the animals ran round in circles, while Larry tried to hide his face because of the brightness.
Suddenly, a big grizzly bear jumped out from behind a nearby tree with a mighty roar. "Roooooaaaarrrr!"
Suddenly, a beam of red light was fired from the spaceship towards the approaching comet.
The animals ran and ran, they didnt realise how far they ran until they got to the other side of the forest!! All the animals screamed in fright and ran as fast as they could in a random direction in shear panic!
Then the spaceship door slowly opened, and a red glow was emitted form its interior. All the animals stopped and looked at the creature coming out of the spaceship. To each one, it seemed that the being was a creature of their own kind!!
The grizzly bear walked to the spaceship and growled at the red glow.
The red glow dimmed...and went back into the ship...then the door on the side of the ship opened...and three shadows came out from the glowing doorway...and came towards the scared animals But when he noticed this creature of his own kind, he could do nothing but stare, tongue lolling to one corner of his mouth. All the other creatures, seeing their own kind making the bear puzzled, wondered what was going on.
And then...it happened. Larry began to play his piccolo like he never had before...
As the red beam of light reached the comet, a very loud and deep noise resounded through the whole forest. A moment later, the comet exploded into millions of fragments, which were soon burned in the Earth's atmosphere.
The animals stared at Larry awestruck. They all wondered what was happening. The music continued to be played, and all of the animals started to feel sleepy..
Larry couldn't believe his eyes....
All of Larry's senses told him one thing, but it just couldnt be true. Standing before him was......
The spaceship, which began to spin. As it gained speed, the very fabric of the Universe started to bend around it, creating distortions in the space-time continuum. Suddenly, the flying saucer imploded into a single point of light, which shot into the sky with great velocity.
The grizzly bear was very confused, and he roared again. "Roooaaarrrr!"
Larry found the tune he was playing change into a minor key. Slowly, the bear calmed down, and all the animals settled together on the floor of the forest, and then it began to thunder and lightening...
The animals huddled together for shelter, the influence of Larry's playing having made them forget that some are hunters and others prey. They joined paws and began singing along with Larry's piccolo
Someone started a campfire, and chocolate bars, marshmallows, and graham crackers appeared (Larry didn't have much food, but he had necessities), and they all started making s'mores.
And the memory of that day stayed with all of them, and they passed the story on down the generations
The...end?
In the meantime, two billion light years away, one evil galactic empire with its army of darkness conquered another galactic empire, which was even more dark and evil, but it is totally irrelevant to our story.
