I expect to see a bunch of people leave this denomination or an internal spilt. There is no way for a true believer to justify this false antichristian belief. There is not single verse in the Bible that could support this, and there are numerous verses available to refute it. I don't even know how we could get to a point where somebody who calls themselves a Christian could possibly believe this is acceptable.

If only the Presbyterian Church only looked at all the verses in the NT where Jesus explicitly talks about the evils of homosexuality and condemns it. Oh, it looks like they did and found Jesus strangely silent about the issue.

Sorry, I must have missed the verses where Christ spoke of marriage as being anything but one man to one woman.

That's just what the Southern Baptists said when the national Baptist organization criticized slavery. "The increasing tensions and the discontent of Baptists from the South regarding national criticism of slavery and issues over missions led to their withdrawal from the national Baptist organizations."

150 years later, not too many people insist that slavery is biblical. 150 years from now, not too many people will be foaming at the mouth about SSM.

These issues are completely different. When it came to slavery, both sides could actually put forth an argument. People who supported slavery could show how slavery was permissible, and the abolitionists could show that the Bible extolls the virtues of freeing slaves. The abolitionists had a better argument because they could show that this is what God prefers.

When it comes to SSM, there is no argument. There is nothing in the Bible that could be used to support it and there is plenty of things that refute it.

Sorry, I must have missed the verses where Christ spoke of marriage as being anything but one man to one woman.
Mark 10 7-9
‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife,[a] 8 and the two will become one flesh.’[b] So they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”
Genesis 2-24
That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh.

The Christian bible is clear about homosexuality.

We can love sinner, but hate the sin. But allowing god's blessing on the sin is against the bible.
ie All sinners may enter the church, but the church cannot bless the sins of those entering the church or sanctify sin as acceptable.

The followers cannot change the gospel or the beliefs are worthless.

I love all people, for my creator requires it. I cannot love sin, for my creator prohibits it. Society can accept the union of same sex couples, but the church cannot accept the union as holy, no more then they can accept the drunkard or the gambler's sins to be blessed by the church.

Just another prophesy coming to pass.

Jesus spoke about how fruitless trees are fit only to be destroyed.

IMO, with such statements, Jesus was commenting on the issue: any "marriage" that does not produce fruit (e.g. children) is not a legitimate marriage at all.

Indeed.

It is staggering how many, professing Christianity, still do not know this though.

Bible has warnings about people following false teachings, even seeking out that which they want to hear.

Well, that is your opinion.

I would imagine, many Christians said the same thing about accepting evolution, as well.

If Jesus was silent about an issue, that means he did not need to correct or clarify it. That means the current Jewish belief at the time that homosexuality was a sin and was an abomination to God was still acceptable. He was clear on affirming Genesis 2:24, though, about one man and one woman in marriage.

The Presbyterian Church USA departed from clear sound sound biblical teaching about homosexuality and validating sin. The split will happen between the biblical conservative and the non biblical liberal churches.

Denominations of Christianity have a long history of splitting. Nothing new here.

Maybe not a split, but certainly a shift. My wife and I are members of a PC (USA) church, but the pastor, elders, and deacons have repudiated the General Assembly. We are still attending but not giving anything toward the presbytery. So long as our local church is on the right side of the issue we'll probably stick it out.
