Seemed like the perfect forum place to post this (the Junk drawer) ;)
It's one of the most powerful scenes from a highly underrated movie, please enjoy and comment
To my eyes, Toby (her little brother) is a metaphor for the soul

Oh come on, the real reason to watch Labyrinth is to watch Magic Dance

Hah! To each their own.

I'm still known to break into the back and forth of "you remind me of the babe..." every now and then :)

Though I like the lyrics for "Within you" better. While Jareth makes some claim to love Sarah, and that's why he 'grants her wish', he was always ever and only interested in keeping Toby "forever and ever in his Castle and turning him into a Goblin" (an image of himself)

At one point in a very telling moment, Jareth looks at Toby. "He's got my eyes," he says. "I think I'll call him Jareth".

In the same way that God wants to mold us into the image of his Son, Satan would like to do the same with our souls, molding us an image of the demonoic if given the chance (or the wish). Because souls and a conscience can be troublesome things sometimes, rather like screaming babies. We don't always know what they need, or want to give them what they need, and they require a lot of care and love to grow right.

Most love songs say something to the effect of "I can't live without you", but Jareth's is bemoaning, "I can't live within you". Again, perfect for the Lucifer archetype that he is.
