A few questions if I may:

1) Is prayer more powerful when said while kneeling?

2) Where did this practice come from?

3) Have you experienced a better response from God when you pray while on your knees?

4) Can you give any Bible verses regarding praying while kneeling?

Thanks ya'll!

Praise God!

A few questions if I may:

1) Is prayer more powerful when said while kneeling?

Not necessarily. I think that God looks at the attitude of our heart. So ifyou are kneeling because your action is displaying what you are doing in your heart then yes. But no if you are just doing it as a trick or that your heart is not in the right place. But I do not think the action of kneeling itself gives prayer more power.

2) Where did this practice come from?

I do not know.

3) Have you experienced a better response from God when you pray while on your knees?

No. I think that God always responds but we sometimes do not hear. I do not think also that we can manipulate God by praying on our knees compared to not. I am not saying you are trying to do that but that is what this question suggests.

4) Can you give any Bible verses regarding praying while kneeling?

I can't think of any off the top of my head.

i would venture to say that kneeling was started back with the old testament characters (for lack of a better term). kneeling was used in honoring kings and such. people would kneel before kings. kneeling is also humbling. have you ever thought about it? what can you do on your knees? almost nothing.

Here is a bible verse from one of my favorite psalms:

Psalm 95:6 Come, let us worship and bow down, Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.

Also, Solomon in 2Chr6

knelt on his knees in the presence of all the assembly of Israel and spread out his hands toward heaven. 14 He said, "O LORD, the God of Israel, there is no god like You in heaven or on earth

I think kneeling helps to put your mind in the right attitude. Lifting up hands can help too. I think both are good things!

When we kneel we pray with our very bodies. If we pray so long that our knees hurt, this is a sacrifice we can offer up in union with with His sacrifice. It is a posture of reverence and submission and supplication, that very much helps our souls to adopt the same attitude, and so makes for more effective prayer.

Better than this is falling on one's face before the Lord, in worship and awe. When Karol Wotyla, now Pope John Paul II, was offered the bishopric of Krakow, he went to a convent and asked if he could use their chapel. He spent eight hours there on his face before the Lord seeking his will. The answer was "Yes!"

We believe that kneeling in prayer is Scriptural and shows reverence, humility, and submission to God's Will

Acts 20:36 When he had said this, he knelt down with all of them and prayed.

Acts 21:5 But when our time was up, we left and continued on our way. All the disciples and their wives and children accompanied us out of the city, and there on the beach we knelt to pray.

Acts 9:40 Peter sent them all out of the room; then he got down on his knees and prayed. Turning toward the dead woman, he said, "Tabitha, get up." She opened her eyes, and seeing Peter she sat up.

Luke 22:41 He withdrew about a stone's throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed,

By Blackhaw6...I do not think also that we can manipulate God by praying on our knees compared to not. I am not saying you are trying to do that but that is what this question suggests.

I am sorry if you think that that is what my question suggests, I don't think so and I am hurt by your comment :(

I am not trying to "manipulate God" , that is IMPOSSIBLE. I am trying to do what God would want me to do. I know people that say that fasting for God is very effective with prayer and pleasing to God, would you say they are trying to be manipulative?

I do feel however that by kneeling in prayer, God sees our humility, love and respect for Him.

Praise God!

Ephesians 3
13 Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.
14 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named,
16 That he would grant you , according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,
18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height;
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

"I am sorry if you think that that is what my question suggests, I don't think so and I am hurt by your comment"

i am sorry. I did say that I did not believe that it was your intention or anything like that. it was just the way I read it.

"I am not trying to "manipulate God" , that is IMPOSSIBLE. I am trying to do what God would want me to do. I know people that say that fasting for God is very effective with prayer and pleasing to God, would you say they are trying to be manipulative?"

No and I did not say that you did. i am sorry for our miscommunication. what I tried to write was that what i read in your post was that If I did not know you that I might think that you were trying to manipulate God. Like some Christians are so worried about having their prayers answered so they can get the things THEY want. I knew you were not doing that or saying that God could be manipulated so i addded that i knew that you were not doing it.

But i do apologise again for the miscommunication. I want you to know that is not what i thought you meant. the only thing i was saying is that with what you wrote it could be interpreted that way. but i knew that you were not trying to say that.

Cool?

Fasting and Prayer is even more powerful... God see's your heart and your actions will most likely follow your heart. So if kneeling is for you, you do it. I guess in a way it is a way of humbling yourself before God. But really try fasting and praying... if you want God to take you seriously, FAST AND PRAY. :)
