It was always just a matter of time before the moderates consolidate. I'm hoping Bloomberg can make a run (he's just a shorter version of Trump).

Klobuchar is ending her presidential bid, will endorse Biden

Bye bye Bernie - the DNC still does not want you - even though the voters do.
well....Bernie has been getting less than 1/3rd of the democratic votes overall (summed up in all 4 states together as a whole).

That's not a majority.

Meanwhile, the middle or 'moderate' democrats have together, as a group, definitely gotten a majority, when you add up:

Moderates: Biden + Buttigieg + Klobuchar = Majority of votes so far.

It's too early to say what the voters want. Wait until after Tuesday, when we have a large number of actual votes.

Were you really going to vote for Sanders in your state's primary? Your profile lists you as a Republican.

I don't get why Mayor Pete and Klobuchar didn't just wait until Super Tuesday to drop.
It could be that they knew if they stayed in, Sanders might get the nomination.

oh I see. I thought that by more people dropping out before Super Tuesday, it made it easier for Sanders to become the nominee because fewer candidates would be left.

No. Just the opposite.

Klobuchar knew that she couldn't win. She's hoping that the voters who would have voted for her on Super Tuesday will give their votes to Biden to help him beat Sanders.

Shorter, richer, smarter, more competent...but less narcissistic.

I was surprised when I saw Buttigieg withdraw before Super Tuesday, since he's doing respectably well in the delegate count, but now that I see both Buttigieg and Klobuchar withdraw ahead of Tuesday, I think there was probably a behind-the-scenes conversation in which the moderates agreed amongst themselves which was the most likely to win, and the others withdrew, so that the moderate vote would no longer be split.

I think they're trying to avoid playing into the narrative that I keep hearing from non-Democrats! on CF, that Sanders has already won the election and Democrats are trying to steal his prize away from him.

Yes, some of the "elite" party leaders were probably in on the behind-the-scenes conversation. But that would, after all, be leaders of a political party trying to guide their own party -- not an unreasonable action for a party leader.

It is unreasonable to let Bernie run, and then take actions to tip the scale before the nominee is chosen. If the DNC wants to pick a candidate at the convention, and skip the appearance of primary elections, that would be more honest.
