  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We have been presented with a consept wich has been described as the "Kingdom Church", let's discuss it's nature. When did it begin, where is it identified in Scripture, does it still exist today, and if not where did it go? Was it rolled into the church at large? {That is rolled into that organization which Jesus spoke of being built b Him}. Or did it just die of natural causes? Any Scripture which you can provide will go a long way to validate this doctrine, yet a lack of Scriptural evidence will confirm the notion that it is just a "tradition of men".

What CHURCH are YOU a part of? Lets LOOK.

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica]Scripture Reading: Ephesians 1:22, 23

Many Christians believe that every time the word "church" appears in Scripture, it refers to the same thing. This is unfortunate, for this thinking has led to much error and confusion. The fact is, at least three can be distinguished in Scripture.

The first church we find in the Bible is "the church in the wilderness" (Act 7: 38). This was the Old Testament congregation of Israel. Some would object to calling Israel a church, but this is exactly what the Holy Spirit calls her. In fact, the Hebrew word for "congregation", found numerous times in the Old Testament, is equivalent to the Greek word for "church" (see Psalm 22:22 & Hebrews 2:12). Yet, the Old Testament Israelite church is not the church of today.

The next church we read of in Scripture is yet future. Christ spoke of it in Matthew 16:18 where Christ told Peter, "I will build my church; and the gates of hell (Gk. 'hades') shall not prevail against it." This church is still future, for it is begun with a resurrected people. The "gates of hades" is not a reference to Satan's forces, as many teach, but a reference to the entrance (and exit) of the place of the dead (cf. Isaiah 38:10 where "gates of the grave" is literally "the gates of sheol" - sheol being the Hebrew equivalent to the Greek hades).

The third church is the church of today. Paul calls it "the Church which is His body" (Ephesians 1:22, 23). All true believers today are members of the Body of Christ, the one true Church in this dispensation of grace. Are you a member of this Church?

pulled up post .... this is last one i will put in, point being ... this material has been covered quite well. go to search forum type in 'the church' and loads of threads come up.

Comparison of Future Hopes/ Kingdom Church of Times PAST vs Body Church of Today

Kingdom Church/Times Past (and ages to Come)

1. Christ comes to EARTH a second time. (Acts 1:11; Mal 3:1, Zech. 14:4)

2. Prophesied fulfilling promises to ISRAEL (Acts 3:19-21; Zech. 14:1-21;Dan. 9:25-27; Isa. 59:20-21;Rom. 11:26,27)

3. Promises to ISRAEL/Kingdom Church involve EARTH/LAND (Gen. 17:8; 28:13;35:12;Ex. 6:4-8; Lev. 26:42-45; Jud 2:1;Isa. 60:21;Jer 32:40-41; Ezek. 47:1-48; 29;Matt. 5:5)

4. Abraham (and thus Israel and the Kingdom Church) looked for a CITY, Heb 11:10 (ie NEW Jerusalem- Ezek 48:30-35;Rev. 21:2;10-27)

5. Second Coming (Day of the Lord) preceded by specific SIGNS (Matt. 24:4-42;2 Thess. 2:1-12)

6. At Second Coming (As in Noahs day) unbelievers taken away, believers remain on earth. (Matt. 24:37-41)

7. Restoration of the KINGDOM to ISRAEL. (Acts 1:6; 3:19-21)

8. Christ to rule from DAVIDS Throne (2 Sam. 7:16;Isa 9:7; Luke 1:32-33; Acts 2:30-31)

9. Jews to have priority (Isa 60:3; Zech. 8:23)

10. Kingdom Church to go thru the GREAT TRIBULATION (the time of JACOBS TROUBLE- Great and terrible day of the Lord) (Jer. 30:4-11, Joel 2:31; Matt 24:4-32; 2 Pet. 3:10; Rev. 1:1-19:21)

11. Israel (from greater context) to be the Bride , the Lambs wife (Rev. 19:7-9)

Compare with:

The Church the Body of Christ

1. Christ RAPTURES (lifts UP) the Body to meet Christ in the AIR. (1 Thess. 4:13-18)

2. Kept SECRET (1 Cor. 15:51-57)

3. Promises to the BODY CHURCH involve the heavenlies (NO earthly inheritance for us) (Eph. 1:3; Phil. 3:20; Col. 3:1; 1 Thess 4:17)

4. Body Church looks for Christs appearing (Titus 2:3)

5. No specific signs precede the RAPTURE, only general trends. (1 Tim. 4:1-3)

6. At rapture, believers are taken UP to meet their Lord in the AIR, and unbelievers remain on the EARTH. ( 1Thess. 4:16-17)

7. No indication of Israels priority or special status or character of ANY kind.

8. Body church NOT to go thru the Great Tribulation. (1 Thes. 2:16;5:9)

9. Body Church is ALREADY Part of the GROOM, thus Cannot be the future BRIDE.

Yep...this has been discussed over and over. What needs to happen is for a change of MIND to take place. Is there a difference in the gospels preached by Peter and Paul, or NOT. Adequate proofs in scripture have BEEN provided.

The Church in the Temple
Under the New Testament, there were devout and faithful Jewish believers that preached the gospel of the kingdom and that Jesus was the Son of God. These members of God’s church were not under God’s Old Covenant, but where subject to God’s New Covenant.

They were participants in the pouring out of God’s Holy Spirit at Pentecost, and were supernaturally able to obey the law of God as it was written in their hearts. Led by Peter, this congregation of saints was preparing to go into the kingdom. As such the Bible says that,

“And all that believed were together, and had all things common; [45] And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. [46] They, CONTINUING DAILY WITH ONE ACCORD IN THE TEMPLE, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, [47] Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. “ – Acts 2:44-47

Peter, James, and John had agreed to confine their ministry to the CIRCUMCISION (little flock/believing remnant/kingdom church) in Gal. 2.

The hope for that little flock which died having been faithful to THEIR gospel, ministry, and calling will...

Matthew 19:28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.Matthew 19:29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.Matthew 19:30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

Acts 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.
Acts 3:20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
Acts 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

The kingdom church/the remnant/the little flock have AN EARTHLY HOPE...they will be in the kingdom of heaven on earth. The church which is HIS BODY has a heavenly hope.

Yep...sure is. And we also believe it because in comparing scripture with scripture, this IS what the Bible teaches.

Well, now you have introduced yet another church let's recap,
1)you have the chruch of Moses,
2)then the Kingdom church,
3)then the church that you suggest that Jesus hasn't built yet and then
4)the body of Christ.

This is far from clear.

Here ... let me make it worse ... :p

The Greek word from which we get the English term "church" is used to describe the mob which swarmed Paul and screamed "Diana" for two whole hours in Acts 19.

"ecclesia" means gathering or group or even mob. "Church" doesn't mean what you think it does.

It was used in the Septuagint repeatedly in the Old Testament to describe non-Christians.

It has nothing to do with Christ or Christians.

The term is over-baked. We have made more of it than it is worth.

Carry on ...

LOL...good point, Tychie! The word church merely describes a gathering of people, good or bad, for some specific purpose...PERIOD> YOU are absolutely RIGHT. People have taken the word church and made something totally unrecognizable out of it!

You crack me up, by the way...I enjoy your sense of humor! Wink

BTW these are the PD designations not mine!! I understand what ekklasia is, yet what has been presented here is not consistant with Scripture. This introduction of that group which the PD deny is the ekklasia that group which began in the upper room with the baptism in/with the Holy Spirit. That group which I consider to be the body of Messiah, THE ekklasia.

Some need to read the original list that shows us the differences between the two "churches"...the one of times PAST and ages to come, compared with the Church which is His body.
